Good on Margaret Hodge for making a stand!.
Emma Harrison should be on her way to prison really as she has basically ponced off the poor and ripped off the state. Could you imagine what would happen to a benefit claimant if they ripped the state off by that much, millions of pounds?0 -

Hi, new to this but this page / thread has been an interesting read.
I have a first meeting with one of the providers tomorrow. I've decided that I am not going to sign anything they ask me to. Is that going to cause issues?
I've read about the Chapter 5 (A1) so I know they can't force me to sign consent but is that the same with other forms?
I will be taking along my cv, letter etc because I would really like to know why I can't seem to get back to work but other then that, all research is telling me that these providers are a waste of time and effort.0 -

I would actually prefer they DO SOMETHING FOR ME!!!
The news reports are that the WP is great and the Gov are doing something to get people back to work, well what are they really doing? NOTHING!! I will not vote Tory next time!0 -
no it's extremely annoying that I am ONLY there 15 mins and have to do a 14-15 mile round trip for it!

The thought that they "might do something" for an individual to end up in a job (yes, I'm looking at you LadyMissA) is a little optimistic to say the least.
"We" all know that the job situation is dire - so what kind of help would they - sensibly - offer? (Let's - please - not bring up the slave/work experience/voluntary positions with Tesco et al.) For those who are considered "work ready" (CAG1?), then the provider is in no better a position to offer help than a random person off the street - and certainly not better tha the individual themselves - who is no doubt doing all they can on a daily basis to get out of the quicksand of unemployment.
This is why the whole Work Progamme is a load of bolleaux. There - is -nothing -they - can -do and anything they are being paid could be put to better use elsewhere.0
