    Thanks for replying

Would the work programme not benefit financially if I worked in a part time job for six months? Or is it only full time jobs where they're rewarded if a person works there for longer than six months?
I was thinking that if they do benefit whether it is full or part time, if I am working part time what would the benefit be, to them, of me looking for full time work if I had a part time job?

    Many thanks again
i dont know if they get anything from you getting a part time job. they will still expect you to look for work because that is what they are required to expect of you. the chances are they would recieve a payment for you gaining full time employment whether they got paid for you getting the part time job or not.

I was due to start the work programme in March. I cancelled my appointment because I was ill and then they rebooked me in for May. I found myself work about 3 weeks ago signed off and informed the provider I had found work without even attending a session with them so asked them to remove my details from their system.

It seems they've refused as I've had a few phone calls asking how I'm getting on and where I'm working and letters still asking me to go to appointments. I'm not stupid I know they're trying to get me to reveal where I'm working so they can claim payment for helping me back into work despite doing !!!!!! all and I refuse to tell them for that reason.

I'm wondering where I stand legally because to me them holding my details despite me telling them to dispose of them is a data protection issue. I'm obviously not going to take them to court as I don't have the money but is there some sort of body or organisation I can complain to who can either force them to delete my details or punish them for failing to do so?

If you have never attended any appointment then write to their head office and lodge a formal complaint and send a copy to the DWP too and your MP

    easy

If you were 'due to start' in March, I assume this means you had been referred by the Jobcentre. If that referral was done properly you will have signed a Jobseeeker's agreement agreeing to participate, you will also have signed for various letters setting out the legal standing of the Work Programme.
From the point of that referral you were on the Work Programme as far as the DWP is concerned. Not having met your WP adviser does not change this.

I'm sure the legal position vis a vis WP and Data Protection is dealt with somewhere on these boards, quite possibly earlier in this thread!

The JCA does not say anything about the WP - you get a call then a letter from the WP and like the OP has said the appointment from March was moved to May but not one word of attending the WP yet so the OP has not signed anything to say they are going to attend or signed a consent form at a guess as they haven't been there yet.

If the op has never been there they have no consented to contact from them to find out where they are working.

Do as advised and file an official conplaint

What do you actually do when you attend? How long are you there? Do you find advisors try and get you to apply for jobs where its clear you havent got the experience and wont get it?

How helpful or not is it?

My two years are up in august thank god.
mine is slightly different to other postees. they wasn't doing anything for me so the jobcentre told me to complain to the manager of pertemps which I did, the manager then called me back screaming down the phone like a cheap fishwife, I was then dragged in front of the area manager, humiliated, slandered that I didn't really want a a job and my cancer was just a front, at my next appointment I was paraded in front of other clients, and made to do a "yes" "no" in front of the whole room why they read a list of jobs out like bricklayer, jcb driver etc.

Since then I have been parked, in the last month she keeps referring me for jobs I cant do and have no experience, which her reply was " if everyone applied for jobs they could do, no one would get a job". I don't actually do anything, I sign in, she does a five minute job search, gives me a new appointment and I'm sent home again. I have recently enrolled myself in college because all these resources they told me they had haven't materialised, I was promised an I.T course all last year, when they finally got round to telling me I was on it, I found out I would be doing the course at home, then found out my win7 pc was incompatible with their software which runs on IE8.

I'm coming to the end of my work program two years, and they are desperately trying to sanction me for something, they have already tried once (and failed).

If I were just about to start the Work program now I would not allow the sharing of data, and would request a paper only "special records" regime, when I filled out the joining forms.

Hi. I had a similar experience with Pertemps in Stoke a couple of years ago. I attended the initial interview and they offered me 2 jobs that I could not do and really tried to initimidate me. Fortunately I ran my own business for 10 years prior to getting me disability so I did not let them get to me. I immediately contacted the Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) at the JobCentre and was moved to another work program.
If anybody is not happy with their work provider contact the DEA if you have a disability, or write to SERCO. The jobcentre do not give feedback to SERCO about work program providers.

Good luck to all seeking employment.:)

my new adviser is quite keen and friendly but clueless as usual on these courses. they bring up a list of jobs and i have to say which i am willing to apply for based on the job title alone. i have heard nothing back from these jobs they have put me forward for so far. didnt expect to really. i find each adviser does things differently and claims what they do is what everyone does and is down to the rules and cant be changed. i used to see my previous adviser every 4 to 8 weeks for a 121 and they never ever refered me for a job. i see the new adviser for a 121 every 2 weeks. i havent got long left. i am more worried about what the job centre will do to me next.

Well I was due to be re-introduced to the work programme this morning after 4 months away due to working. Found out through this site that because I sign for NI credits only I don't have to attend the work programme and that they can't mandate me to do it either.

Still I guess I will get it in the neck in the next few days from my provider and jobcentre for not attending but I have nothing to sanction so I don't really care.
