I hear what your saying, however, it still wouldnt lead to sustainable employment though because when the grant ran out- the person would be out of the door. Unless it was a very long term subsidy.
My idea? No there has to be a full time job there and this is only an incentive. I mean say a company will not take on unemployed people or even interview them there will be an incentive to take one on instead of taking someone who is already in employment.

You have to be in that job 18 months and then the company will get say 25 % of your first years annual salary (say you were on £28k its £7k) then when 2 years are up they get a further £7k.

This is the same ammount that's be banded about as the fee that the WP providers will get once you have been in employment for 2 years but what will they have really done for you? Nothing at all yet this company took a chance and you have prooved yourself in the 2 years and they still have you working for them. Only you and the employer will be better off not some lame providers who pretend to be doing something for us.
  • Hello, I would appreciate any advice with regards to attending the Work Programme.

I was placed on the Work Programme in June last year, as I was receiving ESA and placed in the WRAG with a return to work expected in 3 months. I (stupidly, in hindsight!) signed the data consent form, provider action plan, and provided a copy of my CV as requested.

A re-assessment for ESA took place in November and kept me in the WRAG with a return to work expected in 6 months.

I wondered if I needed to keep agreeing appointments with the Work Programme provider (currently every 2 weeks) and if it is possible to now withdraw all my signed consent forms as I am concerned at the fact that the provider holds increasingly sensitive data regarding my health. They have just referred me to a company specialising in occupational health for additional intrusive "assistance".

    Many thanks for information.
  • If anybody has contact details for any journalists doing stories re: Work Programme, please could you PM me them. Likewise any journalists/researchers reading this, let me know.

I've got a whole dossier of things to complain about, plus some scans that show the exact quality of some of these establishments.

I was fortunate in having a nice competent advisor in an otherwise horrendous company. Unfortunately she left her post and moved into a totally different industry. They've now replaced her with an idiot.

The Guardian seem to run pieces on this situation every day; the writer's names are published at the top of the feature - I am sure it would be possible to contact them either via the website or find out some means from the Guardian iself.....

I at present am looking into making
[STRIKE]a complaint[/STRIKE] ahem, suggestions re. the DWP/JCP website and have already had a heated conversation with a young man (who answered the call) about whether or not a "voluntary/work experience" "job" for "zero pay" actually counts a being a job.
He told me to call Jobseeker Direct and I got his mate I think and am already being passed back to my local JCP - when -
THIS PROBLEM IS ON A NATIONAL SCALE -
plus the entire website needs a good looking at.

Yeah, although I did get off it for a 6 week period over Christmas as I managed to gain some employment.

The only reason I didn't complain about some of the things is simply because I didn't want to seem like a trouble causer, as I actually liked my advisor. She was honest, competent and friendly, to be honest I'm sure those qualities were more of a hindrance for her.
