What I am not sure about is if this payment applies if you say, become self-employed or take a succession of temporary positions that keep you off the dole/out of their clutches for two
years total.
They do get a small (few hundred) when the individual is sent to the WP - but the rest is back-loaded.0 -
thats not how it was explained to me.
I was told that when I get a job, even if I find it off my own back the WP will phone to check that I'm still there at certain points (can't remember exactly what they were but 13 weeks rings a bell for some reason) because thats how and when they get paid.0 -

I can safely say if it was at my old company they would not take kindly to anyone from the JC or WP calling them.0 -
Agreed ^. It seems a gross invasion of privacy, as do a lot of their actions.
How would the conversation go?
"I believe that you have LadyMissA in your employ?"
"May I ask who is calling?"
"This is Advisor XX from the Work Programme."
"I'm sorry, we cannot divulge that information."
End of conversation.
I fail to see - if people DO refuse to give details of their new employment - quite how the WP providers will actually get paid?
I have a feeling that there may be some sneaky Big Brother-type actions...
....seriously though, who will be tracking people who have left the programme? How - with no information from the participant? And could that not be the downfall of the whole set-up?0 -

I would imagine they would not have the resources to do this not the right to contact the HMRC as I am sure I couldn't call them up and quote your NI number and they would tell me where you were working so if would be interesting to see how they think they could. They can't even arrange appointments and manage the work load they have so to add to it would be fun.0 -
And it's probably not good to annoy me either and there is no law to say you have to tell anyone and since you are signing off they have no hold on you at all.

By letting these work programe providers get money for not helping you get a job your punishing others who go on these courses and the tax from your earnings is going to waste funding these stupid schemes which could be better spent on NHS or drugs for cancer patients.0 -

donnajunkie wrote: »i dont see how its punishing other people who do the courses. regarding the waste of money i agree but i dont think you get how cruel and unscrupulous some of these providers can be if they decide they dont like you. you dont want to be setting yourself up for a sanction in the future.0
