yes it would only work if they called you today and said can you come in tomorrow which they dont as you have 2-6 weeks notice on the next appointment.
It dosent matter how crap we think it is you have to go if you want paying and they can control you. I agree its useless but they have to be seen to be doing something. There will always be a work programme of sorts.:footie:0 -

I dont know anyone who enjoys the work programme or thinks its a good thing. None of us do otherwise we wouldnt be running it down and analysing it all the time. Im just stating fact there is no choice unless you want to sign off and pay your own way. They have you by the short and curlies if you cant support yourself. When i say they have to be seen to be doing something they are doing something by having a mandatory scheme whether it helps or not. It appeases the tax payers.:footie:0 -
I don't know if they are at mine because I didn't try but I know the bbc website isn't as someone sat next to me was looking at it.
Many at mine are. They are on the ball. What annoys me is the filthy keyboards when are they ever cleaned? Thankfully i dont use them to often but i have been known to take a wipe with me.:footie:0 -

I'm the kind of person the wp is supposed to be able to help, yet I'm not being offered any help, even after I've asked for it.0 -

I just wish they would offer me some practical help. I want a job and I know that I'm going to struggle because of the amount of time I've been out of work and health problems.

I have been on the WP for 7months now, and have been offered no help at all. I have a meeting next week with a new advisor (my third in 7months) who called me the other day to say I had been refered to her by my previous one as he had too many "clients" on his books. I can well believe it, as over December/January I heard nothing from him at all.
I can't see anything positive coming from these schemes for anyone, but I will play the game till I can escape to college in September!
On the subject of sitting tests in numeracy/literacy I have never been asked to do this and also, no mention of work placements. maybe it depends on the area you live in, or different organisations have different rules!0 -

I think it does depend on where you live, My Mrs works in a supermarket in a large shopping mall, she says usually all the shops are staffed by students or younger 20 some things, but in the past few months she has noticed all new employees are older people in there 30's - 50's who hang around for a few weeks then just disappear to be replaced by someone else, this is in all the shops from Super drug to Poundland, probably why these places never advertise for jobs anymore0
