A friend of mine recently had to do these tests, and when asked to underline the 16 mistakes in a word passage.....

....my friend found 23! That didn't go down to well with the staff when they pointed them out and explained. Mainly apostrophes.

It's a wonder they understood the explanations.

If you mean the form the WP get you to sign so they can send your CV to companies, well they can't make you sign it as it says that on in and it also says it will NOT change your benefits if you do not

i never got told that, the woman said to me when i started you must fill out these forms no mention that i didn't have to sign the data protection thing
  • i also herd they supplement there income by ripping off the European social fund when they send folk on these learn direct courses

Most people? That's a big statement! I have an O Level grade A

IF they can't then that's their fault and I wonder what they did for work before.

Alot of people left school without being able to read and write and the government knows they need to address this. I dont know anything about how good the computer systems they use are though or whether it really helps.

I never believe that people can be at school from the age of 5 to 16 and never learn to read and write as first and formost it's the parents fault as I could read and write and so could my nieces before we went to school.

I'm sure it's been said before, but I just wanted to make something important clear again:

as soon as you are signed up to one of these Work Programmes, these so-called providers RECEIVE GENEROUS LUMP SUMS OF MONEY when you get a job - even if you got the job yourself, without any help from them! And even if you get the job early on, before you've actually done any training or anything with them - they will still be paid for 'getting you the job'!

I don't know about anyone else, but this infuriates me. Sure, if your work programme is good and they did indeed help you into work, then perhaps a payment is fine. But it's clear that in the vast majority of cases, the programme will have nothing to do with any employment that is ultimately gained.

So - make sure you DON'T sign the agreement (presented to you at the beginning) which allows them to access the details of your new employer (it definitely isn't mandatory to sign it, it won't affect you in any way).
If you've already signed it - either withdraw your consent in writing, or make sure that when you get a job, you don't give any details about your new employer to your work programme or to the Jobcentre (again, there is no reason to - it's not comupulsory).

It irritates the hell out of me that these 'providers' are being paid money for NOTHING.
