  • its ok just putting people in rooms for their maths and english courses. But have the half wits in goverment ever thought that these courses which are currently being provided wont mean a thing to an employer. They dont know what to do with the excess of people and my job centre have confirmed this with me.This is why we have bigger ques arriving at the work programme.Wonder what they will do when they run out of courses and have filled all the supermarkets up with free staff

If this is all they can come up with for £100s of millions of tax payers money, then sack the lot of them.

The jobs that are available across the uk at present and over the last 3 yrs are very low paid, just go and check them out on the goverments website, incredibly huge percentage = low wage = people cant afford to live pay their rent and bills etc.

By putting someone to work in pound land etc is not going to solve the economic mess we are in,its going to stay this way for years and they should just stop lying to the genral public. No one is going to stay on £64 a wk if they can earn £400.Maybe they could do a maths course for grayling and smith.

Goverment are trying to justify the own fat wage packets at the cost of the unemployed.Lets see the success rate with the workprogramme.By this i mean percentage of people being put into real jobs without having to claim tax credits etc. This bag of crap is new deal and a very very costly one to the tax payer.

People dont need help in looking for jobs because there is hardly any there.Go and have a listen to the vid on the guardians web site about a brain washed provider it seems being trained by auto que to tall the journalist that there are hidden jobs.Nver heard so much crap in my life and this is inspired by our own goverment.:rotfl::rotfl::T:T

There were also some very basic literacy and numeracy tests which I would expect the average six year old to be able to complete without failure.

I was the first to leave after completing my paperwork in just over an hour and my £4.30 bus fare was returned without question.
these schemes have been forcing people to do basic maths and literacy for years. even when they know you are above the minimum standard they still make you go through the humiliation of the dummy tests.
mine isnt so keen on reimbursing bus fares. you have to make a point of asking. they dont ask if you need to claim fares. you have to chase them. secondly they ask for proof. as a result i dont bother claiming them and just walk instead. i simply dont like being made to feel like a criminal for claiming £2.50. you would think it was coming out of their own pocket the way they act.

The point is they dont know who needs help until they test you do they? I think its one thing they do well as I said. They try and get everyone up to speed with Maths and English.
they do if you have been on the course before and it is common sense if you have a work history that obviously required a certain level of maths and english.

Pretty sure that you couldn't do voluntary work whilst signing on without approval from JCP even before you got inducted to the work programme. So in answer to your question, I would say it's highly unlikely!
people can do voluntary work while on it so long as they dont let it get in the way of anything required by the work programme.

A friend of mine recently had to do these tests, and when asked to underline the 16 mistakes in a word passage.....

....my friend found 23! That didn't go down to well with the staff when they pointed them out and explained. Mainly apostrophes.

What 4 week placement is this? I am sure what I read on the news sites and on here is totally differenet to anything I am experiencing. MY WP do not do placements!
you can be required to do a placement. the difference is it isnt written into the rules that you must have done one before it ends. it depends on your adviser. if your adviser thinks you should do one then you have to do one.

It's noting to do with my advisor I have it in writing from the Operations Director of the provider that I will not be placed on any work placement if they haven't interviewed me for a real job before hand, offered me the job and just want me to do a trial week before hand

well i believe providers are allowed run things as they see fit. i guess you can feel confident that you wont have to do one. however i suspect they are allowed to change their minds and send you on one. of course i dont know what benefit you are claiming. if you were claiming esa then maybe due to your condition you would not ever be expected to do one.
