started a stupid course with mine today thats stopped me doing my voluntary work. it was supposed to be 4 weeks. it is now 5 weeks. the bloke in charge seems alright but the course itself is bo**ocks. it is going to be the usual stuff of how to make a good cv, dos and donts in interviews etc. whats worse is we have to build up a portfolio of crap for a pointless qualification. we had to go through the humiliation of maths and literacy tests. they are pointless because if you do badly are they going to say you dont have to do the course? of course not. will they change the content and make it easier? of course not.

Is that everyday for 5 weeks? I'd die of boredom doing basic stuff like that! All so unnecessary for most people, it's just another way for them to rake the £ in.

Plus making people do maths/literacy tests (esp if someone has qualifications in them) is silly.

I had my first WP appt today, was a total waste of time, we had to sit in a group and have a presentation which really didn't give us much information and were then given another appt later this month which I presume is a 1:1.

We were given the dreaded forms to sign - I was going to refuse consent but then they said they couldn't give me my train fare back unless I signed - is that correct? I had to sign as I wanted the money back...

it is everyday but only half days. yes it is very boring and due to having to do paper work it means i have to pay attention.

it is silly when they arent going to act on the results in anyway. they say it is to see where we are at. why do they need to do that? whatever result we get it wont make any difference to what happens during the course.

    Nothing worse!

It's about time the Gov started seeing what crappy schemes they are paying out for - there are many more useful courses people could surely do than keep going over the basics..

i dont know if it is true. it probably isnt. there is an expense form to sign and i would think if you signed that then it would be enough.

today we were asked why are you here. he said yes i know you have been mandated but why else. its to get a job he said. i thought to myself no it is just because we have been mandated, no other reason. this wont get us a job.
  • I think they try to patronize people to death so they sign off out of sheer frustration.
    What utter rubbish.

it is to annoy people. if i wasnt doing voluntary work and wanted to do a course like this then they would say you cant do the course you must do voluntary work. basically whatever they think you dont want to do is what they have you doing and they stop you doing what you want to do.
