there are no transferable skills to be a legal secretary from retail

Even a normal secretary would have little chance of getting a job as a legal sec! I'm going to find the WP hell...

Can I check, the universal jobmatch site thing is or is not mandatory? I thought we had to use it but didn't have to give them access to our searches, is that correct??

Also, as I don't want them to get a bonus if I get a job, can I just sign off if I find a job or how does it work?? I don't feel that anything they will do will help my search for work, they are only adding to any stress and I don't agree with how these schemes are run so don't want them to profit from me..

If and WHEN you get a job :) you need to withdraw consent (BEFORE you sign off at he JC) with the work programme. They then can not contact your employer!

Thanks - will check how to do that. I wouldn't want them contacting any new employer either!!

If moving to a temp job, say very short term, would that still require the same?

usually my strategy is to resist bulls**t where possible but try and realise when its better to just stop and to just play along. each time i see mine i get one job log sheet off them with room for 10 jobs. all i am going to do is send quick emails to the unsuitable jobs that keep it varied as they require and then fill the rest of it as normal with suitable jobs. when i was resisting they said i should still do the applications i currently do and then apply for the other jobs as well. in other words double my workload. they then started going on about how when they were out of work they started jobsearching at 8am and didnt stop until 5pm everyday. i felt like saying you do realise the jobcentre does not require this of people so you are out of order to imply anyone should do that. i just kept quiet and let them go on with their bulls**t. they will still be getting the one sheet and nothing more from me. i may well do more than the 1 sheet but the 1 sheet fulfills the requirements of the jobcentres rules. it also means the stuff i do seperate i can do as i see fit without their interference.

No you do not have to sign it at all

They will then say 'oh but we can't help you unless you sign it' so ask them how they are going to help you

IF they say they can put you forward for jobs if you sign it say one of the following if you like

Say you will think about it and take the form home

or sign it then see what they do for you ie do they put you forward for anything at all?

Mine has not put me forward for one job in 18 mths
