Even when I was on job club about 20 years ago we didn't do 6 hours per day job hunting. Somehow i think that wasn't all they were doing.0 -
A friend of mine was sent to the next big town along to do just that from 9am to 3pm for 2 weeks in October last year. The provider had hired a floor on a run down office building with out of date computers and old papers for the job seekers to apply for jobs. The 'customers' attending had to sit there and use the computers and papers to look for work with the 'professionals' on hand to assist if needed. My friend found the 'professionals' very disinterested in the whole process and found out at the end of the first week that they didn't care much as they were all out of jobs a in few weeks after he had attended as their contract was up with the government.
He said there was a mixed bunch of job seekers in attendance, those who had never had a job to people who had been highly paid professionals, younger and older than him.
I can't wait to sign off now and return to work. My older sister has offered to lend me 2 weeks worth of jsa to sign off early to save me attending the WP for 14 days. Does anyone know if I do this on Friday morning before my WP interview in the afternoon it will mean I hadn't started the work program, so if I lose my job (heaven forbid!) in the next 2 years I wont slip back into it?
And has anyone had experience of the job grant on returning to work? According to this link I qualify, if the JCP agree I should receive it on the same day as I would have received my JSA?

no he definitely shouldnt ignore letters from them.MissSarah1972 wrote: »No he emailed them today asking what the appointment was for and they said it was a weekly job search. Maybe he should have just ignored the letter haha
He has his next actual appointment in September.0 -
well everyone has had a letter this week telling them about sanctions. the provider was wrong to say it is due to failing to attend. of course if they do fail to attend and they get refered for a sanction they will get a letter from dwp sayign there is a doubt on their claim due to failing to attend.DWP jargon = Fail To Attend0 -
you wont have to be in there all day everyday unless your adviser is a tw*t. if you were just make them regret it by constantly asking for help and doing millions of applications through the post so it costs them a fortune.I am not currently on the work programme but heading to one soon I go in once a week for 1 hour will this continue when on the work programme or will it be 6/7 hours a day job searching that would humalite me and do my confidence more in.0 -
it could be tricky, i would attend the appointment in the afternoon and tell them you signed off in the morning.

if you sign back on again within 2 years of having been refered you will get refered straight back to the wp.0 -
Im just not sure if ive been referred yet or not, my first interview to do with the WP is Friday afternoon in the JCP and I suppose i'll receive an appointment sometime next week after that to see someone with whatever provider im in. If I have and am in this for the next 2 years its not worth putting myself under financial hardship with my sister and claim for another 2 weeks, you never know something else more suitable may come along sooner.
I think I may just be rambling for myself really
