Are you serious? Professional companies ONLY arrange an interview by letter? I would bet that at least 99% of interviews are arranged by phone call or email. I have never had an interview arranged by letter. Are you seriously saying all the agencies out there will contact you by letter if their client want to see you for interview? That will take at least 2/3 days to get a letter out to you and by then the job is gone. You have to be contactable by email (to call them back) or on a phone line.
I'd like some hiring managers on here to tell me they agree with asking people to interview by letter. I have an interview this week with a major trasnport company and they called me, no letter sent at all and then all confirmed on an email.

I'd say an email address or a telephone number are almost essential to discuss an interview time and so on, especially via an agency, although my last 2 interviews were notified by letter by the firms direct. ie " we would like to invite yourself for interview on ... if this is not convenient please telephone our offices." Both were solicitors, so maybe they're more formal. Although agencies usually want a signature in the post too.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

this has nothing to do with the work programme. also there is already a thread about this.

The High Court ruled that the DWP sanction letters were unlawful, but the scheme wasn't.

The DWP are seeking permission to appeal to the Court of Appeal, although they have changed the letters pending the Court case. (The unlawful ruling could cost the DWP £Ms)

it wont cost them anything. it will just mean they will have to pay what they shouldnt have took away in the first place.

not owning a phone makes things hard but not impossible. the jobcentre cant really force you to own anything. if they want people to have a phone then they can pay for it.

They'd usually have to uprate the payment, ie from 2011 to 2012 JSA levels and they may have to pay maladministration Special Payments, although, as I say, the case is ongoing.

  • Hey Guys

I am not on the WP yet and from the stories here I hope I dont have to be put on it but a mate of mine has been on it a year and has now been told by the people he see that the DWP have instructed them to send letter sout to everyone telling them they all have to go to the office once a week to do a job search

do you all go to yours once a week or have you received a letter from the work programme people telling you to do so in the last few weeks?

How is this going to help him or anyone get a job?
  • I've been made along with many at this particular provider to go to Job Search every week. It's a joke. In fact since I was made to go to this every week my confidence has gotten lower and I've been getting even fewer interviews than I was previously! To top it all off when I am there I am some sort of unofficial tech support for all of the people as the staff are clueless about computers.

How is different to applying all day for jobs at home? Surely you do not have access to your email and stuff when you are there?

Have they said what the point of all this is?

In regards to being IT support, tell them you do not know unless they give you a job! :rotfl:

How would you even know what you are doing with 272 people?
