    Hi all,

anyone wanting further advice about the workprogramme there are some very good tips/advice on how to deal with it on you tube -search "how to destroy the workprogramme" lots of comments from people currently on it and how goverment are breaking certain laws.

    'lo,

The problem with going with this mindset of anarchy is that it lands you into unnecessary inconvenience at the expense of your benefit getting sanctioned ( possibly). You have every right to go and sue but being on bad terms with government officials and partners is not in your best interest. If you choose to "rock the boat", be prepared for a long and tiring fight.

I only speak up against something if it's quite clearly false (without resorting to quoting the Jobseekers Act '95 - this seems to make staff go on the defensive and probably set a mark against you on the system).

I said earlier in this thread I might be heading to WP but my adviser has delayed the referral for some reason. I didn't care to ask but it's probably not a good thing. A break from fruitless job-searching might be just what I need even that means I'm building paper-rafts with random people.

A break? It's not a break from job searching it's just more of the same. No building paper-rafts in sight!

It's worse than building paper rafts. "I've only ever done printing since I left school until the company went bust but I do have a 7.5 tonne license provided it's not multi-drop".

"Well we don't force you into just any job. Oh, how about this one, a security guard for National Express?"

Surprisingly that particular advisor no longer works for Ingeus. I have no idea whether they discovered her zeal in getting people into any job that existed to get her monthly bonus paid or whether her failure to get people into the jobs that they had the skill sets for ensured her demise.

Imagine the irony of having to sign on at the same time..... :)

If it's YOUR time being wasted for 1/2 an hour at a time, then complaining is not such a bad idea. What people have to realise is that we are living in an age of 'Newspeak' where a jobseeker becomes a 'customer' or 'client' when on daft schemes such as ND, FND and now the WP. Well, as a 'customer' you have rights. You have to remind your provider AND others of this.

After all, if you booked a taxi tomorrow and it turned up 30 minutes late, would this be acceptable? Of course not! Especially if this was more than a one off occurrence. You'd be peeved to say the least. Furthermore, you may well decide to use a rival taxi co. in future as well as telling friends and family to steer clear.

With schemes such as the WP, far too much is weighted in favour of the W2W provider. They can perform poorly and yet you are supposed to keep quiet and accept it. You have no choice. Hardly a healthy business to customer relationship is it?

In my view, if the DWP, Jobcentre+ and W2W providers are referring to you or any other jobseeker as a 'customer', then you would in an ideal environment be able to treat them as you would a supermarket, hairdresser, restaurant, garage etc you received poor service from and take your custom elsewhere. So if I dislike Tesco, I am at liberty to use Morrisons or Lidl instead. If I dislike Apple, I can use Samsung.

Of course, one cannot do this with the WP. People on such schemes are a captive audience so to speak. So if you cannot withhold your custom, the next best thing is to do what customers have the right to in any other situation and complain. Make your feelings known.

actually it wont make any difference you still have to go its not voluntary as you know.

Yes I think people need to wake up and realise that is all this is, in reality you still have to get the job, its nothing but a kick up the backside until you do get one. These providers don't help anyone but themselves, hence why they are paid for placements. They aren't some sympathetic help the unemployed, they are a vile scurge preying on the defenceless, hence why you have no right to change provider.

another provider might be just as bad.

If you've a complaint write to your local MP and mp's for employment.

I personally think the jobcentre could be more strict but also offer more help at the same time.

    complaint about what.

Well I am telling you that you are meant to have a ONE ON ONE at a set time with the advisor and NO ONE else should have the same time as you.

You should put in a complaint with the provider!!!!

It wont do any good you will still have to go. Sometimes the best thing is just to accept you have to attend.

I once complained about a provider back in 2005 that was a shambles. Didnt do any good, got a long rambly letter back totally off topic and they just praised themselves about how many people they had helped.

I never said I refuse to attend at all. I will play the game along with them and am 10 steps ahead of my provider!

It wont do any good? Will it not? That's why I have a guaranteed time for my appointments and they are only one on ones. I have a letter from the Operations Director from my WP provider after I complained!

If you don't complain don't moan about it.
