the wp is only there to put preasure on you to find a job.
most people try harder to get a job,to stop all this !!!!!!!!.
the only problem is I'm already trying as hard as I can to get a job, going on the WP isn't going to change that. The only difference is that once a week I'm going to have to use their slow unreliable computers and internet connection to do the exact same job search I do at home every day on my reliable reasonably fast internet connection at home.

I am with you there, you post made me laugh as they are meant to have all mod cons.

What kind of job are you looking for?

anything I can physically do! I'm mainly applying for admin/reception and supermarket checkout job. I'm dyslexic so call centre work might be a bit dodgey but I'm willing to give it a go I just don't know how realistic it will be that I'll be able to manage it.

In the past I've mainly worked in retail, but I've been a cleaner in a busy pub too so as I said I'm happy to do anything I physically can now my health has deteriorated.

Has anyone done the mandatory work placements (30 hrs/week for several weeks) yet? I wanted to know if it's like the New Deal 2-week placements or is it more useful in the sense that you are sent to work for good employers. Not Peacocks or Primark where you're asked to pick up hangers. Oh well, time to watch Question Time and listen to some good ol' playground banter.

I have been told by my people on the WP they do not do work placements
  • In the Guardian yesterday there was an expose on the work programme. A single mum aged 40 was sent to do an unpaid 12 week work placement in a care home.
Cant help wondering what the relatives of the residents in the home would think of that. Especially the relatives who are paying through the nose for their elderly relatives care.
  • .... I should be starting some voluntary work soon but am due to start on the work programme next week, does that affect anything. Can I still do the voluntary work?
