If it's YOUR time being wasted for 1/2 an hour at a time, then complaining is not such a bad idea. What people have to realise is that we are living in an age of 'Newspeak' where a jobseeker becomes a 'customer' or 'client' when on daft schemes such as ND, FND and now the WP. Well, as a 'customer' you have rights. You have to remind your provider AND others of this.

After all, if you booked a taxi tomorrow and it turned up 30 minutes late, would this be acceptable? Of course not! Especially if this was more than a one off occurrence. You'd be peeved to say the least. Furthermore, you may well decide to use a rival taxi co. in future as well as telling friends and family to steer clear.

With schemes such as the WP, far too much is weighted in favour of the W2W provider. They can perform poorly and yet you are supposed to keep quiet and accept it. You have no choice. Hardly a healthy business to customer relationship is it?

In my view, if the DWP, Jobcentre+ and W2W providers are referring to you or any other jobseeker as a 'customer', then you would in an ideal environment be able to treat them as you would a supermarket, hairdresser, restaurant, garage etc you received poor service from and take your custom elsewhere. So if I dislike Tesco, I am at liberty to use Morrisons or Lidl instead. If I dislike Apple, I can use Samsung.

Of course, one cannot do this with the WP. People on such schemes are a captive audience so to speak. So if you cannot withhold your custom, the next best thing is to do what customers have the right to in any other situation and complain. Make your feelings known.
you are right but we have no rights to use another provider but if they were a REAL company relying on 'customers' they would all be bust by now as we would have gone elsewhere!

I had my first appointment with the work programme today (JHP Training) and I wasn't really impressed.

The advisors were friendly enough and straight to the point but to be honest I don't see how me attending once a week is going to increase the chanes of me getting a job. They use the EXACT same resources I have at home.

It is good to know that I wont be forced onto a work placement as with this provider it isn't mandatory.

I have to go back tomorrow for what I was told would be a 20-30 Minute appointment. I have no idea what's going to happen in that appointment but I was told to bring my CV along.

Still really struggling to see how they're going to help me.

They like to keep tabs on you and its pressure making you attend its nothing to do with how they can help you or not?

So if they can't provide a good service on time then maybe they should give the contract to someone else

They will have just as many people on their books any other company. What they need is more staff but they dont act on that because it costs money.

You are missing the point. Do not bid for a contract if you can't do the work. A poor tradesman blames his tools and the WP providers blame the lack of staff, bad staff, poor systems and too many people on the WP. I say maybe these 'professional' companies should do something else then if they can't provide a service.

Costs money? Oh but they are going to be quids in when they get us all a job (or we get our own). Something like £14k per person who gets a job in the 2 years so I read somewhere.

I think a lot of providers will pull out when they realise they can't do anything for us.

Yes I think people need to wake up and realise that is all this is, in reality you still have to get the job, its nothing but a kick up the backside until you do get one. These providers don't help anyone but themselves, hence why they are paid for placements. They aren't some sympathetic help the unemployed, they are a vile scurge preying on the defenceless, hence why you have no right to change provider.

I personally think the jobcentre could be more strict but also offer more help at the same time.
