They get away with it becasue most people on the work programe sign there rights away by putting there signture on the data protection waiver form and by signing action plans.

If you did not sign the forms they would not be able to send your cv to placemants.
Well I have signed the form and they do not do it at mine, so that's not the answer
  • If they have work placements where are the places they usually send you to? I assume they have contracts with major companies.

    Cheers

no the WP will not execpt a top up as proof you have used your oyster at all. Whats this about half price? I pay £1.35 for the bus there and £1.35 back but was told to get a paper ticket at £2.30 so they could pay me £4.60 (yes they are that stupid) as I couldn't prove I used the oyster as you can not get a print out for your cards showing bus travel till 24 hrs have passed due to the bus capping on oyster cards. So instead of them giving me £2.70 they pay me £4.60. I only want what I have paid but they cant give me that , so pay me more. What a joke that is, eh?[/QUOTA

All Providers are difrant but in my area my mate has choice of top up his 1.35 a day or buying 1 week pass at half price and they pay him for days he comes in.

The half price Oyster if for people on Income support in the London area and have been unemployed for over 6 months

    http://www.london.gov.uk/media/press_releases_mayoral/mayor-provides-half-price-bus-and-tram-travel-unemployed-londoners

it was introduced in about 2009 but is still running you need too passport photos and ask the Job Centre staff to stamp the form.

the Work Programme is meant to be tailor made for the individual so oyu would think they would get each person a different placement but all I have read about on here is Tesco and the £ shop, Poundland possibly

Mine will still not pay the CHEAPER price (I am not sure anyone is getting this) as I can not prove I have used my oyster to get there and they pay me the DEARER price of £4.60 return as they refuse to pay me £2.70!! Idiots all the lot of them!

The Mandatory Work Activity (Placement) I mentioned is part of the Work Programme albeit at the discretion of the Jobcentre Advisor. And, not part of the main Work Programme which lasts longer and is designed to get you into proper, paid employment. Through organisations like A4E and Triage etc...

sO everyone doing The Mandatory Work Activity is doing so as the JC says so and not the WP?
  • Well its a right load of rubbish, it really is, dressed up as legitimate but having all the worst elements of capitalism.
Probably about 3 people in the whole country will get a proper job from it.They will say though that 2 million other people have become more work ready or some other nonsence.
What I wonder is, if and when the job situation will improve? I've never known its as bad as this and Im in my 40s. I think the labour market/economic infrastructure as a whole has really changed over the last 20 years or so and that maybe this is the way it will stay. Im hoping things will get better but I dont think they will anytime soon.
I think its totally unacceptable to have nearly 3 million unemployed adults plus 10 million economically inactive adults in this country. What I think would be a better idea would be paying all the unemployed a minimum wage at least and they have to do community work to help the vulnerable.Shopping for the elderly, lunch clubs, painting community centres etc.

you are so right dandelionclock, smith grayling and the rest of the clowns should wake up and take a look at what all goverments have helped destroy manufacturing and now left us all with a legacy of pound lands, and every supermarket warehouse on earth in this country.Shame those muti billion pound businesses cant supply a living wage to adults.Someone said population 60million enough jobs for 30 there maybe a problem somewhere along the line with this, does lack of housing ring a bell with anyone"mr chaps":T still we have the olympocs and the jubilee so we will all be happy and not have to worry about a thing. What planet are they on.
