  • For people in the London area its a bit harder you need to top up your oyster card with 1.30 and show the bill presuming you have the half price oyster tickets people outside london can be paying 2 pounds or over each way so you must claim off of them.

As people were saying earlier about not signing forms yes a lot of the time Job Centre or Work Programe will sanction you if your right or you are wrong but you must appeal within one month plus you can always apply for hardship paymants while on sanctions but I would say this to anyone put at least a tenner aside a week for sanctions to get you through it as nearly 80% are sanctioned after 6 months if they dont start doing the work for free jobs.

    Rules on Sanctions

1 A sanction can be made on you for nearly anything
2 50% of appeals get sanctions overturned at first and money returned
2 If you appeal again 75 % get overturned
3 Just before an appeal has to go to a Tribunal 90% get refunded

Its a hard slog and most give up after get letter of doubt but persist if you have the evidance

no the WP will not execpt a top up as proof you have used your oyster at all. Whats this about half price? I pay £1.35 for the bus there and £1.35 back but was told to get a paper ticket at £2.30 so they could pay me £4.60 (yes they are that stupid) as I couldn't prove I used the oyster as you can not get a print out for your cards showing bus travel till 24 hrs have passed due to the bus capping on oyster cards. So instead of them giving me £2.70 they pay me £4.60. I only want what I have paid but they cant give me that , so pay me more. What a joke that is, eh?
  • I have my first appointment with the work programme tomorrow. They are a provider called JHP Training. The woman who arranged it for me said the first appointment will only last 2 hours but I recieved a letter the following day saying the induction could last up to 5 hours.

Does anyone know what actually happens on these inductions and what should I be expecting to happen?

    Cheers

I wouldn't expect anything at all as my assesment was done in two parts as they said htere was too many people and not enough staff! I had one appoinment of 20 mins and 1 of an hour where you are assesed for what work you are looking for what makes you think you can do that work and then the same for your 2nd job goal too. Then have to rate you to see if you are work ready then I was set some homework then lost in the system for 5 mths lol
  • Thanks for the reply. :)

From what I've read it doesn't seem like it's very organised of efficient.

I am ofcourse willing to let them help me as much as I can but I am slightly worried I am going to get forced into doing things I wouldn't be comfortable doing.

How often will they expect me to attend? And when I do attend on other times what do they usually do for me and how long do the sessions last?

    Many thanks

Do you have any idea if different providers still work in the same way? I have never heard of JHP Training before this work scheme.

    Cheers

I know of someone referred to JHP, who has pushed him into a 4-week mandatory work placement. From what I understand, they are supposed to offer a range of options (ie. Qualifications, Work Experience etc...) A work placement was arranged immediately, and he was given no choice in the matter.

That doesn't sound good at all. I thought they couldn't put you on a work placement for 6 months?
