.... Ok I'm back after looking at the candida/harcombe diet thing.... My opnion...
I don't like any eating plan that involves eating huge amounts of meat (like Atkins), denying certain foods (sugar, salt, meat, potato, mushrooms, no carbs, no fat etc) and claiming a detox period is good for the body. Whether that detox involves a glass of water with pepper and lemon, or if it's eat this and lose over a stone in 5 days it's wrong, it'll mess up your body and then you'll be constantly yo yo ing and trying to maintain an unreasonable relationship with food. Same with a low calorie diet eat too few calories and your body stores the fat and ends up in starvation mode. You'll get thin in the short term but pile it all back on eventually as these kind of diets are unsustainable over a long period of time.
If I had to deny myself pasta, rice, bread, mushrooms, potatoes, chocolate, sweets, coffee then any diet I started that said this would be a fail for me from the start, so I don't.
So because I want a nice big sunday lunch I'm going out for a long walk now and maybe a bit of cardio excercise so I can bank some calories to eat later!!0 -

its brave to start a "diet" ive seen the ups the downs, the mood swings, the depression, the tears the heartache wich comes with them. some may not lose anyweight in the first few weeks of a diet and give up, dont forget to weigh yourselfs at regular times, the body shifts in weight everyday by 2lbs anyway by natural goings on in ourselfs, and what you lose your body needs to spread out also, so sometimes you may stay the same weight for a week or two even doing a vigourous excersize, just stick to it, sheer determination will get you your goals.0 -
I'm not on a diet, I'm on a lifestyle change. Well ok technically this month I'm 'dieting' as I'm denying myself alcohol, crisps, biscuits and fast food. I did try giving up chocolate but I've had a teeny bit! I'm only giving these things up to kick start my diet, and if I REALLY fancy a vodka diet coke or a pack of wotsits, I will think hard about it and possibly have them. I don't want to deny myself things, but I've found giving up something for a month you realise how much you miss or don't miss certain foods. I don't miss crisps at all, and surprisingly I don't miss alcohol... yet.
I don't count calories, but I am trying to portion control, which may mean using kitchen scales, just to make me aware how portions actually look pre cooked, especially of pasta and rice.
Doing this and joining a gym, where I do about half an hour of cardio altogether twice a week I've lost 3.8lbs since the beginning of the year! Go me!
It was my weigh in day and since my last weigh I've lost 1.8lbs! (8 days since last weigh in). I was suppose to do it yesterday but I had breakfast and realised I hadn't weighed myself. I weigh myself first thing in the morning before breakfast, so the food I eat during the day doesn't influence it.0 -

I think I might go to the gym again today. I went yesterday, but felt horrible so didn't do as much as I should have. I better eat something before I go though, I've only had a yoghurt today (woke up at 11:30am lol)0

Oh, I got out of bed at 11ish too - took the poor dog out last night at 2 am (me in my jam jams and dressing gown of course) just so I dont have to get up early today

We are going for a nic walk now, to burn some calories.. and there is that Zumba tomorrow that I am thinking of going to LOL0 -
Well, this thread got a bit.... different last night didn't it

Personally, although I am doing a calorie counting diet, it's not about counting calories until I lose weight. It's about learning to eat properly and using the calories as a guide. 1200 calories a day isn't restrictive at all, infact most days i'm struggling to reach that. Using them as a guide i'm learning what's in different things and how I eat healthily and still fill up so once i'm at weight i'm happy with i'll know how to maintain it rather than doing something like Candida which involves a strict diet then reintroducing foods. If I can learn what's in everything through calorie control I can learn what I can eat/portion sizes while i'm 'dieting' so it doesn't really end, it's more a lifestyle change and learning to have a healthier relationship with all food.
GR you must go to Zumba! It looks fun

haven't posted for a couple of days. Things going well. Slight slip up when I fell foul of Thorntons sale. Thought I could buy to put away but clearly my self control needs exercise. Don't know why I fell so hard, I have lots of chocolate in the house and I haven't even thought about eating that.
Will not buy anymore.
Was upset last week when my weight went up so haven't weighed myself again. My stomach doesn't look any different but I've definately changed shape (a little!) on the thighs which would tie in with my quads being so sore last week.
I've found I have a slight quirk in that if I eat breakfast I actually feel hungrier as the day progresses! If I don't bother with it then I can quite happily get to midday without even a twinge of hunger. If I eat anything before midday however I then feel likely devouring the kitchen cupboards.
Does this happen for anyone else. I feel bad skipping breakfast because I've been told time and time again that (say it with me people:rotfl:) 'Breakfast is the most important meal of the day' but I really don't like eating it and I always feel more hungry not less.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend0
