  • Personally I never have any "ready meals" - I cook from scratch so I know what goes into my food.

But - why are you here? What diet do YOU follow?
yes sorry, i'll explain, i'm not on a diet, i dont need one, im male 5ft 8in and weigh approx 9st 4lbs, i have severe brittle asthma and with taking steroids and inhalers suppress my hunger, thats not to say i dont eat i eat like a stallion, but gain no weight, in the summer months i actually lose a stone. but my OH has battled weight uissues since the birth of out twins 8 years ago i met her when she was 11st she gained weight through out both pregnancies, and has not been able to lose any wieght but gain it she's spent loads of money on certain cal count diets but none ever worked or they did untill her body became wise and stored the fat and water so she didnt lose any further then slowly gained and then after about 3 weeks put it all in quicker with extra weight to boot.

ive seen her become severly depressed over the years because of her weight not being able to choose clothes to her prefured style, braking down after parties because everyone looked fab and she thinks she looked fat.

my sister recommended to her the harcombe diet to wich my sister like my OH dont lose weight easily or gains it on cal count diets, i was sceptical and just like everyone think watching cals is best way to diet, but now in the first week of this diet and looking at my sis now after losing 5-7 stone over 12 months with laspes here and there and going out with mates drinking but being able to keep the weight she lost off think differently after researching this myself to see if its safe i think alot differently towards cal count diets.

my OH does 1 hour a day on the wii fit, and small adjustments to daily life like instead of taking the car to the shop walks it, picks the kids up from school by walking down hoovering more frequently and up and down the stairs cleaning the rooms more frequently aids the diet she is on.

Ok - the intro sounds like Ducan, Marissa Peer, Ian Marber etc...

They ALL claim they have found the reason/way out... has anyone REALLY?
  • Ok, re Candida - is this what you are referring to?

    http://www.thecandidadiet.com/

Re hypogycimia - is that it?

    http://www.hypoglycemia-diet-plan.com/

Have not read it yet, just googled...

On this way of thinking, I just recently realised I may have be intollerant to... lactose - need to look into it...hmmm

not so much that diet and hypoglycemia diet is best for diabetics, but even the non diabetic can have "symptoms" of hypoglycemia.

have a looky see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sg6V5YZUW4 at this for the best explanation of Candida overgrowth.

Just for clarity - on this thread everyone does what they want/what they feel suits them and everyone is on some sort of a diet themselves, we just choose to share bits and pieces with one another , ups and downs etc but not encouraging others to follwo what we do. We are all adults and can make our minds up ourselves... ;)

So by all means pls ask you OH to join us here :)

That diet you mention - from what I see is a very recent thing and no doubt lots of people will swerr by it as they did by Atkins or Ducan before.. at the end of the day... ah....lets just all drop a bit of weight

TBH i dont think anyone has a way out, and candida is a plausable reason, if 10 yrs of research and testing on a single diet that works for most, i'd say well done to her, and kinda sticks her fingers up to the government for inflicting this and that on our veiws to eating habbits.

Very, VERY similar to Atkins, Dukan etc... sorry -just another "new diet"

Saying that, they all work to drop weight, we know they all do ... there will be few more new ones next year - for us to try LOL

oh sorry it wasnt my view to change everyone onto the same diet, dont get me wrong everyone to their own, i just wanted to make aware that what i have mentioned with very good research in understanding candida to aid you guys after all deits are all trail and error and experimenting with various things and tailoring a diet to yourself.

i know how hard dieting i dont want to come over as all patronising to you all, the atkins diet looked wrong from the start my OH wanted to do it by the word, i prevented her from doing so even before specialists and proffesionals said it could possably kill you.

i bid you all good luck, keep to it, support and ecouragement makes up 90% of diets IMHO and its brave to tackle the demons of a settled routine. i take my hat off to you all and give you a bow.

ive encouraged my OH to sign up on MSE as she may find it supportive and encouragement.
  • For me I'm not on a diet.. I don't like the word diet as it implies some kind of denial. I don't have a huge amount to lose but I need focus which my fitness pal gives me.

And I like my food. I eat bucket loads of good food - veg and fruit and water, make my own meals etc etc. My downfall is the little snacks that creep in - you know that 'I'll have a couple of biscuits, I'll have a sandwich, crisps and choc for lunch' type thing. And that's where that weight has crept on. I did slimming world in the past which is the only 'diet' I've ever done but essentially the premise is the same, more home made fresh meals and less processed junk. Throw in a bit of exercise and it's not rocket science, I need a push in the right direction that's all.

I like lists - so for me adding stuff to website and seeing it written down is focus for me. Monday I ate what I normally would, put the figures in and went aaahhh so the 900 cals I've had from coffee, choc, and crisps is the reason! Now I knew this beforehand but it didn't stop me eating it. Same with slimming world don't eat junk (syns) and you'll lose weight.

The home made meals this week - soup and a pie type thing are in themselves only 200 - 350 per portion. I've used the recipe thing on MFP to work it out. It's not the meals that the problem it would be the massive roll and butter (another 200 calories ish) that I had with soup or the chocolate I'd have after dinner ( 300 calories ish) that are the problem. So I'm trying not to scoff the roll with the soup, that's all.
