Hi Penny,
Both of us have been a vegetarian for few years now and till now haven't missed meat (Though we eat lots of meat substitutes). But the attachment would come in handy if we start eating meat again.
Casper and storm35,
Thanks for replying...
I have a feeling that it would be a kenwood only especially because we do lots of curries (DH is an Indian) and hence regularly make naan bread/ chapati bread to go with it and it would look good on the kitchen shelf
Though I like the Cuisinart also..
Oh I am confused again

wssla00,
Thats a good price.. I was thinking about the premier one - KM560 from Costso. I think it's about £200. The differences that I can see between the two are
Wattage (1000W vs 800W)
Premier comes with a glass liquidizer where as Classic with acrylic
Premier has flixible beater, Classic does not
Premier has metal body, Classic plastic/ metal
Now I am thinking if these differences are worth spending extra £60

The only issue with the prospero IMO is that you cant get the attachments for
Ice cream making
sausage making
mincing
pasta maker
On reflection we felt that these were not essential and in time we would probably not bother ( ie I make Ice cream rather successfully by hand)and mincing and sausage making isnt really something we can see ourselves doing in this phase of life. Maybe when we are older and have access to farms/ whole lambs that some of you rural folk seem to be able to buy fairly easily.
I would really want the pasta maker - though not immediately
Would love to have the icecream one though can live without it

If you've got a John Lewis or something similar close to you go and have a look at the different models and see what you think.
I felt that the entry level Kenwood (white) felt more plasticky than the Premier model. I am also always happy to buy my electrical goods from Costco because of their no quibble warranty. Someone the other day said that the Premier at Costco was £180 - you can always ring them and check exactly how much it is.Piglet

a cuisinart demo
amongst the attachments I gave away were a pasta attachment and the sausagemaker. All in all taking up far too much room in my kitchen0 -

I coveted chefs for a long while and had been trying to get one on ebay when I was lucky enough to get a competition win of 3k(one of my other hobbies), as OH decided to go out and blow £600 on a new Hd tv I decided I would splash out on a new chef.
Went for the Km0101 chef titanium. At the time I got a couple of attachments free with it (the food processor/chopper thing and a liquidiser) and I later got the grinder (freshly ground coffee is gorge).
Had it about 2 years now and it looks great on the worktop and gets used almost everyday. I love it.
My DD1 loves it and is already saying she wants one when she is older (she only 6 yet lol).
After the mincer now and even fancy the pasta maker. Not very MSE though, keep wanting to buy more bits for it lol.
Mind you I bake alot so would use a mixer far more than a chopper (so to speak lol) so the chef is more for me. I actually quite like chopping veg when I cook, although I do use the attachment sometimes, especially if I need a few onions together.

Hello MoneyQueen. I am a huge Magimix fan and have a the 5100 which i got from Ebay many years ago. In answer to your question it makes lovely smooth dough! I use it for chopping veg, grating, breadcrumbs, cake making, pastry making...you get the picture?;)
I do however have to be honest with you and say that an expensive negative point is the fact that I've had to replace the bowl and lid several times! I don't know if its to do with the dishwasher but they have a tendency to break:sad:
So I would recommend the Magimix, but you should be aware of this problem!

I've got a Kenwood and I love it dearly, it's a great mate and helper in the kitchen
I've got the sausage maker too which also has a mincer attachment.
A couple of pics here of my lovely sausages.........
I made them with a shoulder of pork that was on offer at Tesco for £2.59 a kilo, minced the pork then made the sausages.
I've also got the kigh speed thingy for chopping veg and cheese and makes chips too.
The pasta maker was a lovely present from my son for Christmas.....
It doesn't matter which you choose to buy, you have to pick the opne that suits your needs best.
But a rule like mine is good, if it's in the kitchen it has to earn it's keep so make sure it's used twice a week or more so it can start paying for itself........:cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

If my OH presented me with a kitchen gadget for my wedding anniversary i would personally wrap it round his neck.
If i wanted/needed anything like this it would come out of the household money.
I want diamonds, chocolates and flowers, in that order thank you very much.
Yeh, while I would not go as far as McKneff, being a pacifist (and also DH is stronger than me and would return the favour LOL) I have to admit that I had to re-read the post twice:
Wedding anniversary
> kitchen implement? Nah, I thought, I must have misunderstood - but I didn't!
I agree entirely with McKneff that anything domestic should come out of domestic money, not the "treats" budget.
Even if cheap, homemade or second-hand if the budget is tight, a wedding anniversary present should be a TREAT! a GIFT! something ROMANTIC!
I love a Kenwood Chef with the best of OSers, but there is NOTHING romantic about it!
DH and I do not give each others gifts as such for the event but usually try to incorporate our anniversary in our holiday so it is part of the treat - same with birthdays, we try to have a weekend away as gift for each other.
Stick to your right for romance! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
