  • I've been coveting the pasta maker for the Kenwood but then picked up a manual pasta maker for £3 in the charity shop the other day so I think we'll stick with that for now....

If you want to look at really nice things look at the Kitchen Aid range and its attachments, sod diamonds that's what I reallllllyy want!

  • I've had a Kenwood Chef for years and I love it. I also had a food processor for a while but I got no use out of that so I gave it away!

Which, judging by the previous posts, means that it's all a matter of personal preference!

  • Thanks Kittie, I will check Cuisinart one also...

Pitlanepiget, I also think the lakeland one is a newer one.. Comes with 7 discs.

Is the manual pasta maker not hard work?

Kitchenaid seems more expensive than kenwood  But it is very beautiful

  • LOL...I haven't actually used the pasta maker and I suspect that I never will but as it only cost three quid I don't feel bad about it!

I think the manual pasta maker means it's a two person job, one to wind the handle and one to feed through. I imagine at some point we'll feel the urge to use it and it will then migrate to the back of a cupboard :D

The Kitchen Aid stuff is lovely but I couldn't justify the cost of it ....

  • Hi Agapanthus - Thanks for replying...

    Now I am all confused..

I will read about all of them in details and then decide. The anniversary is a month away but I was just thinking of getting it as an early gift

The only thing I've occasionally mused over is a sausage maker, this attachment only comes with the Kenwood I think, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know if this is a matter to consider for you.

I have a mincer/sausage maker attachment for my Kenwood. AFAIK, no other food processor has this :D

  • Hi

I have a kenwood chef and a kenwood food processor that has:

    dough hook
    K blade
    baloon whisk

    Plus

    juicer
mincer (with attachment for making sausages)
    blender/ liquidiser

    Food processor attachments

    Chopping
    Slicing
    Grating

I love mine and would never be without it either.

I use it at least every second day and don't have a bread maker as my Kenwood is good enough for making dough and everything else I've ever needed it for. I've had it for at least 18 years and it still works like it did when it was new.

    Cheers

    Hi lynzpower,

Thanks for suggesting kenwood chef prospero. Have never heard of this before..

Will have a look as it seems to be much cheaper than the other ones so if it does the same job then great

The only issue with the prospero IMO is that you cant get the attachments for
    Ice cream making
    sausage making
    mincing
    pasta maker

On reflection we felt that these were not essential and in time we would probably not bother ( ie I make Ice cream rather successfully by hand)and mincing and sausage making isnt really something we can see ourselves doing in this phase of life. Maybe when we are older and have access to farms/ whole lambs that some of you rural folk seem to be able to buy fairly easily.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
