Where are you going for the restoration? I had my old Kenwood serviced by kenwoodchefrestore.co.uk and they did a pretty good job. It certainly runs smoother now. I have toyed with the idea of having a paint job done!

Going back to the OP, on Kenwood vs Magimix. I've also got a Magimix 5200 but it sits in the cupboard most of the time!
Oh it never occurred to me that you could get these restored, thank you.
    I have a Kenwood A. 701A

Actually the reason I came hunting and found this thread was to ask for opinions on getting a food processor as well.

Hi, I have asked my hubby to get me a mixer/food processor for my 40th bday next week, I like the look of the Magimix blendermix but it comes in 3 sizes, 3200, 4200 and 5200, we are a family of 5 so would need it to cope with cakes, soups etc but I don't cook anything massive. Does anyone have one that could advise me on which size would be most appropriate please?

I've got a 3, I think I would go for a bigger one if it was for a family of 5.

I'm going for the 4 as the 5 looked huge in term of the space it takes up on the work surface.

We are a family of 4 but of often cook for more

For a family of 5, I'd definitely go for at least the 4200 size. I don't have a Food processor, but I've been saving up for a couple of months for one. Hopefully, unless some unexpected expense crops-up in the meantime, I should be able to afford one in about a month's time.
There's only 3 of us, but if I do settle for a Magimix, I'll be going for the 4200. I think for us, the 3200 would be too small; especially as I sometimes buy several kilogrammes of carrots / cabbage at a time and would rather not have to stop and empty the bowl after every few shreds /slices.

The Magimix is most likely the one I'll be going for, but I've also been tempted by a Dualit XL1500. Does anyone here have a Dualit food processor? The one thing that I'd really like to know about them is do they slice consistently with them all being the same thickness. I've seen videos of the magimix slices and they all look perpectly even, but can't find any such videos of a Dualit in action.

Thanks all, think it'll be the 4200 then unless any other brands come to light. Had a quick look at the Dualit Lily-Lu, looks nice but very pricey. Have you tried on You Tube for clips, everything seems to be on You Tube!!
