Hello, could any Magimix owners please tell me what the body of the Magimix is made out of please? I can't seem to find this information anywhere. I know that the chrome version won't be plastic, but what about the white, red, cream and satin processors, are they all plastic, or is it painted metal?0

He he
My mixer is to be delivered today :j0 -
intersting thread. i'm also unsure as to which mixer to buy. i'm in love with the kitchen aid ( aritsan i think) in a deep purple. oh my it is lush. but at around £400 can i justify it ? i'm not sure. i know hubby woulnd't object if i was gonna us it alot ( his last sds drill cost nearly £600, needs it for his job so worth every penny, but i've no idea why they cost so much, lol) so he does understand if you want things to last getting best quality you can afford it worth it.
however i'm wondering how much would i use it. i do everythign now by hand, and i love doing it this way.
i've seen a ready steady cook on, very similar for around £70. i'm wondering if it make snece to buy this and see how much i do use it over a year and then maybe upgrade if i use one enough.
is there really alot of difference in a cheaper brand to a dearer one ( apart from the dearer ones lasting 40 + years. gosh i'd be 69 by then !!!!! lets not go there, lol) but i mean in the way they mix, beat etc ?
it really is confusing.
were currently a family of 5 soon to be 6, so i apprecaite bowl size needs to be considered.0 -

As others have said, it depends what you want it for?
I need it to do the work, that's why I've chosen the premier chef.0 -
um well as i've not ever had one i'm not entirely sure what it can be used for .
but i would def be using it for bread dough and pizza doughs, proberly mixing of cakes, mergiunes ( pavalovas more really). and i guess i'd prob use it more and more once i got used to havign it , if that makes sence.
i think becuase i'm totally in love with the purple aritsan one i'm trying to think level headed about the product itself and what it does , not just the amamzing colour on particular brand comes in. if that makes sence.0 -
I need some help from you lovely OS ladies (and gents) please.
I need a new mixer, my trusty old hand one burnt out yesterday.
I'd love to get one with a stand/bowl this time but am clueless as to what to look for....should the bowl turn or not or does it not matter?
I've got a great food processor but it was only a cheap and cheerful one and I don't hold out much hope of it lasting more than another year so I'm wondering if I should go for something with a bit more than just "mixing" capabilities?
Price isn't really an issue, space isn't either....so any thoughts? What do you have and would you recommend it?

I love my Kenwood chef
It is 2 years old now and quite well used for baking. Makes me feel like a pro with a mixer on the stand. It does take up quite a bit of room though. There are threads regarding its uses in the Indexed Collections I think....

lots of great mixer info there0 -
I love my Kenwood Chef too! And I've got a slicer/grater attachment so when the food processor konks out I can still use that. I think you can get a food processor attachment but not sure...
Anyway, my Mum's kenwood has lasted for years on end so I highly recommend them!
