Jo-anne - am thinking of getting my 901 (e-bay purchase a bit slow and smelly) serviced and the motor changed - did you do that and do you think it was worth it ? The cost of delivery etc rather put me off, but it does need a service - or would I be better just getting a new one do you think ?

Mine had a general service but it has the original motor. It runs a lot better now. It was smelly (an oily smell?) before the service but not now. With the delivery, mine cost £41.50 in 2009 so that was well worth it to me. Why don't you contact the guy and ask him for advice about the motor. They seemed really helpful. :)

Hi everyone, I know there are lots of baking enthusiasts on this board so thought this would be a good place to post. I am really into baking and in need of a good stand mixer.

Previously I have had the lend of my MIL's Kenwood which is still going after 20-odd yrs. I have been looking at either a Kitchenaid one or a Kenwood KMix. The Kitchenaid is quite a bit more expensive, and I was wondering if anyone could give some opinions on whether it is worth the extra dosh? Would love some views from those who own either of these or can offer any other options as it is a pretty big purchase for me.

    Many Thanks.

I was just thinking how I couldn't be without my Kenwood mixer! It does everything for me, I'm sorry i'm not very helpful because I've never owned a kitchenaid but i'd have to be heavily convinced to swap!!!!

I have kenwood prospero, not just the legendary Kenwood K beater, but also liquidiser an processor that does slicing grating shredding etc.

It fantastic and makes brilliant baked goods plus the dough hook is also great.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • I do everything with my kenwood chef as well. I wouldn't be without it if it broke down I would have to go and buy another one

Best price I have found so far is at kitchen science who have this one for £233. If I use quidco theres 2.5% off and 4% cashback as well.

Oooooo Toothfairy I just had to go look, it's a Kenwood chef and is amazing although she is an old lady now, I think she must be at least 30 years old but still going strong, still making my cakes and my bread and my sauces and my pastry!!! Have got loads of little attachment things like a mincer and little disc things that chop and cut too, really I should make it my mission to work out how it all works!!!
