I've got something similar to this one
http://www.awtonline.co.uk/products.php
All of the attachments store on board, apart from the thing you use for squeezing orange and the mesh to catch the pips.
However, if I was in the market for buying one now, and I really wanted an all in one, the main thing is get the one with the biggest bowl you can afford.
That said, and knowing what I know now, I doubt I'd buy one, I get a stick blender, a big mixing bowl and a hand held mixer with the two prong beater things.
Stick blender for make soups/smoothies.
Hand mixer for creaming.
Edited to add, the purple one is wonderful though :T
Linda - I've got all the seperates at the moment but I really want something to do "everything" - I've got carpol tunnel in both wrists and holding anything "whizzy" plays havoc with it along with the added hassle of having 3 million attachments/plugs/doo-dahs and the storage they all take.
I think I really do need to go for a Kenwood (I've seen a rather nice raspberry coloured one) but I'm going to keep my eyes on prices for a couple of months to see what's what.

Definitely the Artisan Kitchen Aid. A marvellous assistant in the kitchen and quite, quite beautiful to look at.0

Whoops, I've edited what I put, so sorry folks for the confusion. I still agree with what I said, but then someone said about the slicing and I remembered that the AWT one did slicing.
I'd forgotten as I don't use mine, just use a knife, hence why I said, "if I knew now what I knew then" etc.
However, if you have Carpel Tunnel thats different, then I'd recommend the AWT one
One of these days, I'll have a clue what I'm babbling on about0 -
I love my kenwood - DH bought it for my birthday last year and it is used all the time.

I'm also voting for a KenwoodAs you've made your choice, I'll add this to the existing thread to keep ideas together.

Does Thisle_down still post here? She would always give a thorough answer to questions like these.0 -
I don't have any kind of food processor and to be honest, I really don't miss it! I do have a kenwood chef though and I wouldn't be without it.
Mine is a 901A which makes it about 25-30 years old and it still works really well. Weekly loaves of bread and big cake mixes and it is absolutely fine. I got it from ebay for the grand sum of £30!
I'm currently debating getting it restored - completely rebuilt, cleaned, re-painted etc. which is £129 and should take it to better than new condition. I may, however, decide to add a new motor for £85 which is much smoother and quieter. I'm not sure on that yet. I'd just get a service and new motor but some paint has flaked off the machine and is starting to rust so I think it needs the new paint. At the end of it I should have a machine which is better than new and has less electrical components than modern versions so should run for another 30+ years.

Where are you going for the restoration? I had my old Kenwood serviced by kenwoodchefrestore.co.uk and they did a pretty good job. It certainly runs smoother now. I have toyed with the idea of having a paint job done!
Going back to the OP, on Kenwood vs Magimix. I've also got a Magimix 5200 but it sits in the cupboard most of the time!0 -
That's the place I was thinking of, Jo_anne! I've just had a look and my machine is actually an A701A which makes it between 33 and 47 years old!!! Not sure if I can get the motor upgrade on that machine though. Hmm...
I'm glad to hear you've used the company, it's nice to get a good recommendation.0
