Not yet :D Does the Kenwood chop as well as mix?

No, but I find that my set of trusty Sabatier do that job extremely well :p

Each to their own, I suppose ;) And I'm another Libran :T

    LOL

I do wish my knife skills were better. I try to copy what I see chefs doing on TV, but I do my chopping sitting down because of disability and I can't seem to get the hang of it. I wonder if the angle is wrong?

Another vote for we Librans! Oh, sorry, wrong debate, lol

I've got the Kenwood Titanium, and love it. Do all sorts of baking, and it does really well with dough - The food processor is a bit small, yes. Whips up lovely egg whites in no time too :D

Just had it not quite a year, my very first one. Looking online again, I would still go for the Kenwood, I think the motor is more powerful too, but check the specs online.

I've just bought myself a magimix 4200, and it seems to be the right machine for me. Chopping and grating is my main use, and they seemed to be add ons with the Kenwood. I don't do a lot of baking and what I do do is of the pastry/crumble type, rather than cakes, which seems to be the big strength of Kenwood. I haven't tried bread yet, I like kneading myself anyway. What I like so far is that it is much easier to use than the old processors I had, and much much faster and quieter. Definitely worth it, I suspect

Well thankyou again for all your feedback..

I agree with everything said about librans :T

I'm starting to think, now the practical side of me is taking over ;) that I might opt for a Kenwood 901 secondhand and see how I get on with this model.... I don't think I can quite let the idea of a Magimix go just yet (I very much respect the opinion of Thriftlady ;)).

I don't really have any knife skills to speak of and while I love cooking, most of the equipment in my kitchen has been bought on the cheap (if only I'd had the foresight to invest in good cooking equipment when I was 18 and seemingly had money to burn )

With the money I will save, maybe if it's not quite what I want I may even get a magimix as well :rotfl:But I suspect a second hand Kenwood Chef will be better than anything else i've ever owned in the kitchen. So maybe I'll use the money saved to buy some Le Creuset pans that I've been hankering after for ooooh about 10 years or so.... Decisions, decisions.....:A

I have a titanium and it is beautiful :) generally the food processor attachment is ok and I used it quite a bit, probably more than the mixer, but over Christmas trying to cook in bulk it wasn't big enough so I did get a kenwood multi-pro food processor in the sale. Don't know why i'm replying as I couldn't decide between the two if I had to give one away, so i'm a big help :rotfl:

Kenwood all the way!! Mine is ancient - I inherited mine at a church sale and have used it almost constantly for two years now. I call mine "the old lady"
I've recently moved house and considered replacing with the newer model but honestly couldn't justify buying a new one because this one's still perfect. Makes all my bread for me, mixes my cakes love it!

I bought one of the original Magimix in 1979 when I had my first child and used it almost daily until I gave it to a friend when I moved house a couple of years ago. She is still using it. I've now got a 4200, bought in a second hand shop for £8..... yes really! and find it is great for chopping just one onion to basic all in one cakes, pastry and dough. The other day I finely chopped 10kg of onions really quickly too.

However, if I did large quantities of cake/bread baking, I think it wouldn't be as good as a Kenwood. I say this from just hearsay as I've never felt I could justify the cost.

There is one thing that no one has mentioned though. To get the best use out of either, it is best to keep it out on the worktop, and the Magimix has a smaller footprint.

    Let the debate continue..............

That reminds me of the other reason why I picked the Magimix. I have it out and it is quite compact, elegant even . I just love the fact it only has the three big buttons, even OH thinks it is intuitive, which is more than he said for my previous ones. I might have been swayed to the Kenwood by the icecream attachment but I don't have a freezer in the kitchen, and the freezer in the shed is small, so there's no room for doing that.

Well to add to the argument :D my Dad had his Kenwood for over 20 years before it died on him, and he never gave a second thought to buying a new one. His was in regular use as he likes a bit of baking.
i would love one but dont do enough baking to justify having a *big* one, I have a little teensy tiny one:D was the only brand i would consider:T
