Stick to your right for romance!:heart::heart:

Romance doesn't cost money...we have romance but I'm really not bothered about being bought "stuff" that is deemed to be romantic for anniversaries, birthdays etc.

I learnt when things went pear shaped for us that you don't need monetary things or money to be happy.

I agree Pitlanepiglet, and when there's not much money around it's good to know we can make lovely meals/bread/cakes to have at home while watching a film, and the biscuits we make are lovely in the lunchbox (Twink's hobnobs rule!)

I never meant that romance should mean spending money, it can be a bunch of dandelion flowers picked in a field or a kiss, cuddle and cup of tea in front of the TV, nothing wrong with that - but I found it strange that someone would think of a kitchen implement as a wedding anniversary gift - then again, we are all different, why not ask for an implement if that is what makes one happy!

Personally, if I went that way, I would choose the ice-cream maker (then I would LIVE on ice-cream!).

Edited to say: Barneysmom, that Kenwood looks GRAND!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • LOL...I haven't actually used the pasta maker and I suspect that I never will but as it only cost three quid I don't feel bad about it!

I think the manual pasta maker means it's a two person job, one to wind the handle and one to feed through. I imagine at some point we'll feel the urge to use it and it will then migrate to the back of a cupboard :D

The Kitchen Aid stuff is lovely but I couldn't justify the cost of it ....

manual pasta machines aren't that much hard work, and def not a 2 person job, time consuming yes but well worth the effort.. dd2 (9) uses it with a small amount of guidence and makes a cracking tagliatelli:j
    Lead us not into temptation...

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....

That's good to know and well done to your DD!

Barneysmom those sausages look fab, that's also something on my list of things to do if normality ever reigns again!

    Hi Caterina,

Thanks for replying to this thread

Don't agree with you about this though but as you said we are all different...

I and DH both work full time but at the same time love working together in the kitchen and if an appliance saves us time that we can spend together "outside the kitchen" why not buy it as a present on a special occasion and then we would always have nice memories linked to it. Thats what I call romance!!

Though Kisses, Cuddles, flowers etc. will also be part of the day ;)

    Hope I haven't offended anyone

  • Barneysmom, the pictures are lovely...

Kittie, I am really liking the Cuisinart demo on youtube.. Bowls one inside the other is a really clever idea

ALIBOBSY, aliadds - Thanks for replying.

borderlakland - Well done to your DD...

  • I and DH have spent the evening looking at product demos on You Tube and reading the reviews..

Were not able to decide between Kenwood Chef Premier and Cuisinart. Have finally decided to go for the Kenwood.

Now I just can't wait.. A trip to Costco after work tomorrow ;)
  • Happy shopping MQ, my hubby gets as much use out of our Kenwood as I do and we quite often cook together, it's part of who we are.

Now I've really got the urge to make sausages, I think there is a thread lurking somewhere?!

What a fabulous presenter. "Then I'm going to turn the off button on" :rotfl:
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
