I know it's only £2, but I guess it's a principle thing. Are all you guys saying you wouldn't have done the same if the price drop was more significant?

The price drop could have been a £1000 and i still would grin and bear it.

    Economics 1.0.1: Markets fluctuate!

In this situation the op is taking advantage of the DSR and the retailer. The overall effect of this is that it inevitably cost everyone else more. This is something customer don't realise, increased cost = increased price. The costs now incurred on this will be levvied into other products.

The reasons items are reduced by retailers are usually because of a glut of stock / low demand / dated stock / faulty or returned. The customer (op) was happy to pay £x amount for the product, where they unhappy with paying that they could, at any point have refused the sale. The DSR are there to protect customers from being sold slightly misleading products, variations in pictures etc. It is not to dispute the price, the price is set by the retailer and you either agree or diasagree at no point do they force you to buy at a certain price.

Yes it is very moneysaving of you OP, but your job as a consumer is not to rip off a business but to come to an agreement of tender for a product. You agreed and now you disagree, why did you buy it in the first place if you value the product at £2 less? its no wonder businesses are struggling with customers like this.

GAME, i assure you i will continue to frequent your stores and am confident i will make up for this gentlemans lack of loyalty, business knowledge and sales.

£2 probably couldn't be bothered sending it back. However for a grand i certainly would!

sending items back even unopened they dont go back on sale as the retailer packs these up and sells these in bulk to companies that will sell these in pallets of goods, as these are classed as secondhand/soiled goods, so the retailer loses out.

DSR regs don't require the return postage to be paid if stated, Game are offering more than is required if they pay for this.

What happens if the game drops another £2 next week and another £2 the week after? Will you spend your time sending parcels round and round in circles to get refunds?

You paid a price, stick with it. It's demanding consumers and lack of brand loyalty, both of which seem to apply to you, that cause these price drops anyway.

Not in my place (employee not er) unless its for sanitary reasons. Its the opened/dmaged boxes in store that kills us!

Er, no. I paid a price, they dropped their price. They said I could send it back for a refund which is exactly what ive done.

Ive now purchased the game elsewhere for the lower price.

Its not my job to support retailers. The only retailers I dont mind paying extra for are the local greengrocers and butchers. Apart from that, I will shop around.

The only reason I returned this item it because it dropped 10% in price the day I received it though the post. If it had been a week later it wouldnt have bothered me.

Anyway, GAME offer a 28 day return policy.

Not sure about this, I work for a clothing company and all returns are checked, (refurbuished if required) and then sold again

    from Play's T&C's:-

I want to return an unwanted item

If you no longer want your purchase and it remains unopened and unused, you can arrange to return it to us within seven days of receipt for a refund. Please be aware that we will not refund your return postage costs, as there is no error on our part. If you use our pre-paid postage option then we will deduct the cost from your refund.

Yeh i made that mistake, they bought at GAME!

OP, its not your responsibility to support retailers, its also not the retailers responsibility to offer you the lowest possible price.

Not much point in debating much more, you still feel its an underhand tactic. But bear in mind in the high street you will be extremely lucky to get your product refunded, this is general practice across all retailers, and accepted between most retailers and consumers.

Finally, for future reference, you will normally find in electronics and gaming, the longer you wait the cheaper it is.
