Purchased a game online from GAME as an xmas present and it arrived in the post on Friday.
Come Saturday GAME dropped the price by £2, but with their customer services being closed over the weekend, today was the first time I was able to call them.
Was very surprised that they cant just refund me the £2 difference. I have to infact return the game, get a full refund and then purchase it again.
Play and Amazon have also lowered their price for this game, so will purchase it from there instead.
Just wanted to get that off my chest!

Presumably they are hoping you won't bother for the sake of £2.00 especially when you have to take into account the time/ hassle of packing it up and taking it back to the PO.
It would certainly cost me more than £2 to do that as I'd need to drive a fair way to the nearest PO. I'd chalk it up to bad luck/timing and forget about it.0 -

it may be crazy, but their is no law saying they have to give you the difference. prices change all the time. would you fill your car up with petrol at 1.36 a litre yesterday and find that today its 1.34 a litre, so go back to the forecourt and ask for the difference
also in your case if you noticed the game had increased by £2 would you have phones them and said i see the game has increased by £2 i will call into a store and give your the extra £2. I dont think so.0 -
I was tempted to write it off, but the more I think about it the more annoyed I get. I have to pass a post office anyway, so will post it back to them. Also sounds like the disc is loose in the box (havent unwrapped it but can hear it rattling around).
I just thought a company would use common sense, as they are the ones paying for the return postage!0 -
Eh? Not to sure why this is a problem? I bought a tv in 2008 for £1000 the same model now is £200. Surely the retailer wouldnt be expected to refund me the difference.
To be fair to game they don't even need to offer you a refund (ignoring the fact you bought online(different rules)) but if you bought it in the shop they wouldnt have to let you refund it.0 -

Haha, I was only just laughing at some of your posts in another thread!
I didnt state there was a law saying they have to give me the difference back, but if you want to get technical, I can return the item unopened under the distance selling regulations. This is at the expense of GAME.
I thought, as stated above, that they may have used some common sense and rather then lose a customer, just refund the £2.0 -

Why bother with the stupid example?
Im talking about online, where as you state different rules apply.0 -
If the reordered game doesn't get to yours in time for Xmas then you're a present down all for the sake of £2. Is it really worth it? I would just keep the game, send an email to customers services expressing your dissatisfaction and informing them you won't be using them again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. so whats wrong with what i said it is 100% true, its cheaper you want the £2 refunded but if it was dearer you would not pay them the extra £2 would you.0 -

Not quite, you didnt mention the distance selling regs.
You seem to be getting confused. The point im getting across is that I can return the game under DSR and get a full refund and purchase elsewhere.
In these "hard times" I thought retailers would want to hang onto customers, so instead of them paying for the return postage and losing a customer, they could have just refunded the £2.
As for your example of it being £2 more expensive, you can again return under the DSR and buy at the more expensive price, but that wouldnt be very moneysaving would it0 -

but you were expecting the £2 difference refunded, so my argument is valid would you pay the extra £2 if they asked you because the item increased in price.0
