Funnily enough Chev in the course of all my reading I found that there are machines that auto thread! The main complaint seemed to be that some of them took longer to auto thread than even a novice would take threading a machine! I must admit, the modern machines seem to have guides to follow, making it easier than ever to thread one up. And the whole bobbin malarkey has been simplified no end!

I always used to worry that my mum's hand-cranked singer would 'run-over' my fingers - it was a cantankerous thing!

Think my eyes have gone 'machine shaped' now - think I may of been doing a bit too much research :rotfl:But gee there are some talented 'sewists' out there ......

*waves* to Pippi and anyone else who wants one :) Hi KC!

    :hello: Hiya!

Keiss, how fantastic are those photos! I love the link to your 2012 sewing projects, I've kept it open on another tab - the crazy stuff is very impressive. And Dorset buttons! I've been thinking, there must be a way to use wool to make button effects - and there it is! I don't want to patchwork, but I do love effects with material and with wool, you've taken me on a step further, thank you so much!

Pippi, hope you got nice and snuggly warm after a blustery day - it was bright sunshine here yesterday, so very warm out and walking. My shoulder hurts quite a bit when I'm upright for more than half an hour, so I'm going back to using the sling they gave me... but its mending, definitely. In fact, I've got my first paid work since the op today, just a couple of hours, one of which is on the phone, so I'll be able to make my arm comfy.

KK, congratulations on the exchange, brilliant news :T

Hope everyone else is doing good too :beer:

I'll reply to you lovely lot in a bit - today is day 2 of my 'weekend' its a bit weird but the lovely KC (hello lovey) has said not having 2 days off together isn't good for you so I'm having my weekend again today. :)

Lots of lovely chat on here - I'm going to be brave and get Wiks sewing machine out (which is here and on holiday).

Today - hurrah a pottery day (Piq I have done pottery in the past) there is a photo of the ridiculus tea pot somewhere but I'll try and find it. But is a potter about at home day.

Lots stuff to do - house a tip - paperwork to do etc.

    :)

morning Pippi, haven't been on here for a couple of days - where does the time go??

Greying -can I add my 2penneth worth in?? I have a brother sewing machine and love it. What you want is a machine that will grow with you if you know what I mean. I know you said you only want it to do basic things but once you start using it it would be a shame for you to think "oh I wish it could do this now". most machines now sell seperate feet that you can use for doing more fancy things - pintucks, quilting etc.

Auto threading is very easy although the spring has started to go on mine now through old age so it takes a few goes.

Chev - no this is not unfounded. i remember stories of a girl in my school doing that. Not sure if it was true or not though. Before you start sewing you have to drop the foot which holds the material in place. If you keep your hands on the material then they cannot fit under the foot so you shouldn't be able to sew your fingers.

Keiss - those bags look lovely. you are very talented

KC -glad you are starting to feel better. take it easy and try not to rush things.

    Morning Pippi and friends!

My Mum is giving me her second sewing machine, I didn't know she had two. All I have to do is get over there and collect it. Once done I can start on bags for you.

  • Money money money

Falls off chair as one account is almost clear of overdraft - well I'm only 324 overdrawn rather than my normal 950 overdrawn.
Lloyds cc also only has a balance of 447 which I could pay off but its the lesser interest rate card.

    Hmm will wonder than one.

    That not lookign bad.

Invoice in for work - not got it yet.

But, Fatcontroller has only £125 left in OD - but waiting for wages but have to pay rent at the start of the month

Captain cc terrible £74 left of balance - hmm that' what I've been missing, I've not been PADing to that card. Argh.

    Need shift money over.

Report card reading - Hmm taken eye off ball, improve focus. Could do better.
