    Hiya Piquant,

I think Pippi means pottery as in pottering about rather than actual items ... although with her wealth of talents you never know :D

Pippi - Hiya my lovely, definitely go for the 4s - tis a thing of beauty, wonder & awesome photos too. I'm in deep love with mine :j

Ah how very disappointing, I've never met a potter before and had hoped.....

Won't be asking for a new sugar bowl then!

    Love to you Pippi!

Tee-hee, love the idea of Pippi pottering...you never know, it could be yet another one of her talents...though I suspect it could be messy!! :rotfl:

I did do a few pottery classes many years ago, but had to give it up when I was so pregnant, as my bump got so big I couldn't reach the wheel!!
    :D

Still, I am trying to get back into a creative career, though probably not pottery...so no sugar bowls being made here, sorry!

I have to get back to the sewing machine in a mo, want to finish my free-motion quilted bag today, so I can get on with making some morsbags for you Pippi....will be nice to have just straight lines to stitch for a change!!

Sounds like you had fun pruning...don't have too much to do in my garden, as most things are under control, though my cornus, cotinis and rasps do need cutting back...perhaps this afternoon if I get the bag finished :D

Have a great Friday and weekend, good luck with the packing KK and LT xx

    Hoorah to reduced price tables!

Guess what, this morning I had a call from the hospital trying to give me a date for my leg op, the day before we move house!! Gulp. I've now got the pre-op for a week after the move and then the op soon thereafter, no date yet cos of me being a princess and not being willing to move the day after an operation, lol.

It's all more than a bit exciting now, am packing furiously thanks to OH nagging me, in fact he even woke me up this morning to get out of bed and do some more!

    Hey up all :hello:

Have just realised what a total techno-luddite I is!! I was happy with my new PAYG phone, from Tatco, purchased with the judicious use of coupons, discounts and vouchers for the sum of .... £5!! :rotfl: Mind you, it is the first 'touch' phone that I have had, and it has got a camera (3.2mp) on it so I'm dragging meself into the 21st century........eventually!!! Think I've got a ways to go yet though. But as I primarily use a moby for texting, my needs are somewhat miniscule.

All this talk of ops has anyone heard how Karmacat got on? Have I missed KC being back on?? Hope all went well anyhow, and that recovery is swift.

Pippi I wonder if I could hijack your thread for a second, You were talking about sewing a couple of pages back, and I would just like to ask Keiss and Cheery Daff (and any one else feel free to pitch in) what make/brand of sewing machine they might recommend. I'm not so interested in the actual model, as I realise that different models appeal to different uses. My use would be soley pleasure (?) sewing, infrequent and no 'bells & whistles' wizardry needed. Whereas a professional sewer/tailor is going to need much more from their machine (and probably will want to pay more). My old machine has died after about 18 years. I've no regrets, it was at least second-hand when bought, only cost £30/35 if I recall rightly and frankly, owes me nothing. It's getting confused as to what stitch it should be stitching and is making some of the most wonderful 'birds nests' on the underside of the material :o

It did straight, zigzag one or two other stitches and buttonhole function and that would be probably as much as I need (when you add in different stitch lengths etc). I had always hankered after a Hu$quvarna, but I'm not sure that they are as sturdy/good quality any more. I also got shown a Brother in the Sewing machine shop, which looked OK, and had (even though it was relatively inexpensive) the facility to do single stitching - at the time I was impressed by this because I was making something that required 'corners' to be made (you know, where you clip the fabric and ease it round - are they called box corners or something?). I remembered doing them in GSE needlework, but looked on Youtube for a reminder and the v nice american lady who was demonstrating the technique had a machine that had this facility - and it looked to aid the process immensley!

Anyway, I'm not in a rush to buy (haven't got sufficient pennies at the mo), but have got a major (for me) project that needs to be done ideally before June, so I'm beginning to have a look around.

Thanks for reading - sorry for the questions Pippi.

Have a great weekend everyone, stay warm!

  • Greying lovely to see you - wish I could reply more now but I'm on my way to the frozen womble land.

Just updated our fb page and I'm off to fight off the hoards who will be coming out to visit despite the gales and the sideways hail, wont they????

Hope you're all good, loving the sewing chat, the pottery chat (I have taken pottery in the past and made the most ridiculus tea pot!) - dashing in to say have a lovely day.

I did a peedie blog about the weather actually being nice and me and mutto getting out did it in bed, then fell into zzzzz land. Oh dear.

    Have a good un!

    Morning!

Greying, I have a Pfaff (partly because of the name - you don't pronounce the P ;):D). Tisn't pretty looking, all square and industrial looking, but it doesn't do anything fancy, and can sew through 8 layers of denim (I tried!) and velvet etc - thought it would come in handy, I'm not good at delicate things! :D (although mine currently doesn't go backwards, and when I took it apart to see if I could make it, I couldn't get at the right bit, then put it back together and it's got 2 screws leftover! :rotfl: :rotfl: So I don't know how well it will sew at the minute :p
