Having a bit of a break from data entry (a bit boring, but it pays!).
Thanks for all your kind comments. I must admit I am a bit surprised at how much I managed to make last week. I didn't ignore everything about the house though, the ironing mountain is now a rolling hill, so getting there! Also made bread on Sunday and have fruit loaves in the oven as I speak, oops, better go and check them as I can smell them all the way upstairs.
....perfect, that's four tea loaves cooling now. I make them with less than half the recipe's amount of sugar, they're mainly for DS2 who's diabetic and needs to have a good source of carbs, mind you. me and DH like a slice or two as well.
Making spag bol later, and pancakes too of-course. I will eat when I get back from my evening book-keeping session, though migh have a pancake or two to keep me goingOne of my fellow students talked about bringing some in tonight, but we'll see.
Right, need to get back to the data-entry...had over 30 minutes break now.
Have a good day everyone xx

Off to find keiss's post and catch up yesterdays shnanigans ......

Oh I just saw an owl out the door - how exciting.
With the bags, well the big patterend one: all I did was french seam the bottom seam first and stitched the finished seam allowance in place with two rows...this will make the bottom much stronger. Then I french-seamed the sides. I didn't stitch them down, as a bit more fiddly, but it would be possible to stitch them most of the way down. Just not sure how finnicky people want to be.
Need to get back to data entry, see you later. x

Lovely to see an owl Pippi, what kind? We have a few owls round here, making a few hoots and screeches during the night, rarely see any in the daylight here though...too many trees! Talking of birds, the blackbirds have been joined by a couple of thrushes in singing their hearts out. There is quite a territory tussle out there atm!! Lovely sounds though. Sounds like Spring is on its way at last!!

Keiss thank you for explaining, I think thats kinda similar to what our volunteer lady has also done - you're both clearly thinking along the same lines - I wonder if you know her~? I'll email you. And I'll ask her what she has done to make hers different.

I don't know that I've seen an owl in daylight either, but I'm not always that observant.
I have an embarrassing confession to make. I'm looking forward to making bags and have material earmarked for the project. But why I am doing it? Strolls away whistling in a self conscious fashion...

Ok, my motivation is that I'm trying to develop the 're-use' notion via my womble work and turning old fabrics into shopping bags is a great way to promote this for me locally, as a charity we can then give them away for promotion of re-use or even sell them for maybe £1 to make a bit of money to contribute to our charity to make it more sustainable and to pay a bit toward our amazing womble voluteer expenses to spread the word. But you'd not need to make any for me, at all, if you didn't want, it just means I can also encourage other folk up here. And, all support is of course brilliant:T:T:T
And, I'll always pay the postage - I can't have anyone out of pocket on my account.
Thats one reason, educational, re-use and possible fundraising/giving away potential - spreading the word, one bag at a time.
It also keeps old fabric out of the skip - [if its not recycled of course.]
Then as I looked for 'how to make a recycled bag' - I found out about the brilliant charity which have developed the bag (Morsbags) are motivated by 'geurilla sociable' methods of effecting change in folks attitudes towards carrier bags. ONE MILLION platstic bags are eaten by sea creatures and various other hungry brutes every MINUTE.
They aim to try and reduce plastic bag consumption (us and the poor hungry critters) by encouraging 'pods' of bag making by groups throughout the world. I want a pod to help - I'm trying to form one up here.
Morsbags have the aim of changing our habits via education and by making even one bag we can help. The UK uses 10 BILLION plastic bags a year. Legislation will take ages to change anything but in the mean time, by having a recycled bag when shopping, everyones saving the planet and also probably a hungry sea creatures life.
One bag can help.
Its why I'm doing it and trying to promote others to do it.and I find the term guerilla bagging very inspiring
Hope that helps to make you see my motivation, I'm not motivated by much, but I don't like the idea of hungry marine organisms eating bags and dying due to my using a plastic bag.
As for sheep eating them or cows - up here - they are plain daft and clearly need protecting for their own good.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
