morning all. just a quick catch up before popping off to coffee morning in a bit. getting a lift with my mum so don't hav to leave quite so early.
Pippi, I would think nothing of paying a small fee for a reusable bag. However here in Wales we are used to it due to the charge for plastic carrier bags now in force. Everyone carries reusables now and we are all willing to pay for a good quality bag (especially ones that will fold and fit in your handbag - use that as a selling point!!). Not sure how people who don't have to pay for carrier bags would feel though.
The morsbag people suggest that pods stand outside places like supermarkets and give the bags out to people going in. Would it be worth doing that for you? You could either sew labels with "Womble HQ" onto the bags or slip a little flyer in the bags when you give them out. Saving bags, promoting reuse and promoting womble HQ all at the same time?
Keiss you make me tired just reading your posts. Slow down lovely xGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Pongy radiators! Some of mine are pongy - I always thought it was the doghairs in the carpets from before I bought the place, but the office radiator is the culprit - I've had vinyl down in there for ages, but it still smelt funny when I switched it on the other day. It doesn't get my allergies, I just don't like the smell ... it *does* mean I take ventilation very seriously2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks again for all your lovely comments, I really appreciate them
Well I did slow down yesterday in the end...to an absolute stop! I didn't take the dog a walk in the end, as I had a bout of the "runs" for a few hours, as well as the headache. I didn't go to college either (12 miles away...far too far when in that condition!!). I just flopped in the evening, but I did finish another scarf...lacy one this time, really nice, might nab this one for myself!
Much better this morning, so went to choir practice, it was great fun, so glad I have joined. Back home now from invigilating and looking forward to doing some sewing this evening. DS2 is supposed to be making tea tonight, but I may end up helping.
I was going to do more sewing tomorrow, and I may do, but as the forecast is amazing (15 degrees, though a bit breezy), I might do some gardening as well. The autumn rasps need cutting back and all the fruit bushes/trees need a dose of sulphate of potash. Will need to weed under the currants first though, in among the strawberries. Oh Pippi, do you still have the strawb runners? If so, you are welcome to send them when you are ready.:) I will pot them up in the greenhouse, and keep them there for a bit, then get them out in the garden once the weather is suitable. Determined to try and keep the birds and beasties away from these new ones this time. We have little furry critters who get into the fruit cage and munch them all! I don't mind sharing, but we only managed to eat 3 fruit from 8 plants last year...and there were loads!!!
Good idea to sell or give the bags away at shop entrances. Agree about charging, a good way to raise awareness and funds for the charity all at the same time.
Right, better go and see if DS2 has started doing aything about tea....bet you he hasn't
Have a good evening all xx

Hi Keiss! Oh dear, sorry about the runs ... but all else in your post is good, I think
Choirs sound wonderful - I do like the sound of rock choirs, I must say, in all senseMy throat isn't particularly a strong point, either, but maybe in summer I might do a taster session, if they do such a thing, it might really help.
Hope everyone has a good evening2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just in from a very bizarre day, school bus didn't turn up, so from then on its gotten progressively bizarrer (is that a word?!)
Hello!
Keiss poor you. Xx

KC - there is a rock/trendy/fun choir in the village with the train station next to mine (i.e. kind of between you and me
), I can't remember the details of it, but can find out and PM you - a couple of my friends have been talking about going to it and I think they have a flier. It sounds really good fun, if I could guarantee a babysitter, I'd join too!
My daddykins has been fabulous today - he came down and has taken away all the boxes I've packed to the new house and also the contents of the shed!! The new garage is pretty full now apparently but I'm sure I can cram plenty more in before the big move day next week0 -
Pippi - Pah! to silly bus drivers deviating from the route! Hope now that you are home, the day is normal-er!:)
I know Pippi that you will be aware of Earth Day 2012 but for those of us that didn't know, it is on 22nd April this year. I was thinking about plastics/plastic bags, and the ocean and various documentaries/news reports I'd seen (about how much plastic is in the ocean), and I wondered whether there was any mileage in an 'M' bag promotion on or around that date?? Is it too soon? Would you have sufficient 'stock'?
Erm, and then the other thing that sprang to mind was whether there is an 'M' bag template (or similar) for a child's sized shopping tote? 'Book bags' are somewhat the norm now, although ma or pa often seems to be carrying them, but I wondered whether in the spirit of education, a few child-sized shopping bags might be an option? And yes, I am advocating [STRIKE]indoctrinating[/STRIKE] 'getting 'em young' :rotfl:
Still, I know it is easy to spout ideas - voluntary organisations/charities can only do so much and with the labour force available to them - so please feel free to disregard the above, you work hard enough as it is!
Keiss - glad you are feeling better, and that the choir is such an enjoyable experience. I agree, choral music (modern and not so modern) can be just wonderful to listen too.

Greying - Earth Day has often passed me by, I'm afraid, but no longer - its in my diary now, and I'll be checking for a way to mark it.
