  • I applied for a couple of jobs last year - got to interview in both and was second choice in one. I think the Head was really shocked when I told her I was applying to be honest.
There are some serious issues through the school with middle management that Ofsted picked up on last time round but nothing has been done about. I keep trying to tell myself that this is what's happening now - the Head is scared for their job because Ofsted will notice.
There are 3 female teachers in a department of 9 (Science) and we're trying to gee each other along at the moment. If you asked me objectively I know I'm not the weak link, but there is the threat of redundancy at school which is stressful on it's own, and you can just never get complacent.
Hey ho - thanks so much for the kind words :o

  • Hi all
Sorry for being so quiet over the week. It's been absolutely horrific with work. I've been stuck there till 5pm every night and still having to bring work home with me as well. I am absolutely exhausted and hit the wall at about 2pm yesterday afternoon. I almost couldn't even be bothered to come on here and check in. The department have undergone a full review this week - all of our books and planning has been taken for scrutiny and we've all had one to one interviews with the deputy head. Apparently we'll get some feedback on Monday but of course we all know that it's bound to get worse before it gets any better. It's been a heck of a few days that's for sure.
And to top it all my exam marking starts today. I really enjoy doing it and could use the extra money but the timing couldn't be much worse.
Anyway, it's been good for the moneysaving. I've not spent a penny the whole week - loads of nsd's rolling in, which is good because my little money pit of a car needs to go back into the garage again to see if we can sort out this clunk...
Hope everyone is well - I've missed my virtual life (and my real life come to think of it).

  • :(Ohhhhh Wannabe ..... (((hugs))) sounds awful :(

At least it's the weekend :) - I'm slightly envious of your exam marking - wish I worked in a profession which had something like that to earn a few extra pennies here & there.

Try to have some "me" time too

  • I cannot believe I'm now so busy at work that I can't get on here at all during the week.
Suffice to say that the department review was a disaster and we're all working our socks off from rock bottom to try and get out of the mire we're in. It's horrible, really, and I just want to hide away from it all to tell you the truth. But I can't because teaching isn't the type of job where you can take time off and someone will sort stuff out for you. When you go back, all the problems are still there, plus all the extras that arrived while you were off.
Anyway, it's all been good since last week with the spending (or not). I've only had 4 spendy days this month, and only planning one more. I'm still utterly broke though.
Hope everyone is well. I have a mountain of catching up to do this weekend if I'm not drowning in planning and marking.

  • Thanks all for your kind words. I have known for a few years that things haven't been right at work but now that something is finally doing something about it - it's that horrible time of change where things get worse for a while before they get better. The management are in agreement that we work hard, but they want us to work smarter. At the moment though, they haven't told us how to do that, just given us more work to do.
It's gone back to taking me hours to plan lessons, and if I'm not working on school stuff, I'm feeling incredibly guilty about it.
I'm determined to spend a bit of quality time with my children today though - hubby is at work and then straight off to watch football.
The car is back in the garage. Had the back brakes done a month ago, but am now worrying about the front brakes as well. Fingers crossed that won't cost too much because I definitely can't afford it at the moment.
I know I sound really miserable - sorry. I don't mean to, just things are quite frustrating for me at the moment. Too much work, not enough money and not enough rest.
    :p
