  • Another week gone and still no spare time to post on here. This is one of my little bits of me time pleasure and it bugs me a little that I'm too busy to get on during the week. Still, work is going to be busy for the forseeable future so I'll have to limit myself to weekends and holidays for the time being.
Had a little bit of a spendy week... I had a hair appointment for me and ds (all planned spends), had to put petrol in the car, my yummy fruit and veg box and I finally caved in and bought a snow shovel. I resisted for 2 years, but finally gave in at the beginning of the week and bought the last one in the shop. What a revelation... I can now clear the drive in half an hour instead of the hour and a bit it used to take... and I've already been out there 3x since I bought it so it's been worth it all.
Also caved one night when I was coming home from work after 6pm and I bought the kids KFC. It's been ages, and I didn't have any but I felt so bad at how late I was, and how I was too tired for making dinner once I got home.
Lost another pound at SW this week. So far so good. Just got to keep plodding on.
    Hope everyone is well.

  • I so very nearly went out shopping today... We got a lot of vouchers as wedding gifts when we got married last year, and I've started fretting a bit after the recent demise of a few of the high street names. But I'm 4 days short of payday and have done so well not to blow the budget this month I decided not to risk it.
Then my hormones/tiredness/boredom kicked in and I started craving chocolate in a major way in spite of being absolutely angelic on SW for the entire month. I had a small graze box of bounty hunter, but when I wanted more I decided to have a go at making SW friendly banana and shredded wheat muffins - so me and the kids did that. They're stodgy as anything but only 2 syns each and littlest child loves them (or I can even have 3 as my healthy extra from the shredded wheat)
Made a roast chicken dinner with stacks of veg leftover, which I'm now trying to decide what to do with (curry or soup).
Then spent a couple of quality hours playing board games with the kids, which was lovely before fitting in a couple of hours for work tomorrow. Must confess I've hit the wall a bit now - I feel exhausted, and I still have 13 books to mark. That will take me somewhere between 1 and 2 hours but I just cannot make myself do it for some reason. Want to get in the bath, soak and read my kindle...
Don't know if I'll get on here again before next Saturday so just in case, have a fantastic week ahead all. And please keep your fingers crossed for me that I get my half stone award tomorrow at fat fighters.

  • Well, another week gone and another week where I've not managed to get onto here to catch up and chat. Starting to feel like an outsider on a forum I love so much and helps me so much. I really hope that people don't mind my just butting in here and there rather than being on every day, but I just cannot manage it with everything else going on for me at the moment.
I certainly can't imagine my work getting any easier - we're being watched all of the time by senior management and I still think they're looking to get rid of people by the end of the year. I just hope I'm not high on the list - I really do try my best. Just sometimes wonder if my face fits there. Still, I will just keep going, because I do love my job even though it's way too much from time to time.
We got another new addition to the family at the beginning of the week - a 6 month old kitten who we've called Midnight. She wasn't wanted any more, so I took her off her current owners. Couldn't bear the thought of how she was being treated or what might happen. She's cost me a small fortune so far - getting her chipped, vaccinated and neutered, but I don't regret it at all. Shame our current cat doesn't think much of her - he's been so used to being the only one for the past 6 months. Vet assures me they'll get used to each other in time and it's early days yet.
Diet still going ok - got my half stone award last Monday. I'm pleased, but this week was certainly a lot more difficult and I found myself slipping more than once. We'll see tomorrow when I weigh in. It's been 2 bad meals so not the end of the world.

    Hi Wannabee

Sorry youre so busy that you don't have any me time. That's hard. But of course don't worry about dipping in and out..quite a few of us do, especially when we have other responsibilities..work, family etc etc. the point is that we are all here when you need us and when you need to download.

I hope the school management are getting things in perspective, frightening everyone without being specific about what needs doing is not a good strategy..is there anyone you can safely express your concerns to?

Great news about the new pet and the weigh in. Well done.

Hope next week is a good one

  • Hi brizzled,

With regards to work, it really is a case of just keeping my head down and getting on to be honest. I learned last year not to fight, even if you strongly believe you're right because the decisions will be made whether or not you agree with them. Don't get me wrong, I really do love my job, and am mostly happy where I work - we're just undergoing massive changes at the moment and I think that if I can get through the rest of this year intact then next year will be loads better. :o) There isn't anyone in a senior post that I trust enough to talk to about it though...

I've just put in another order on Approved food - £37 this month. Must sit down and calculate whether this is worthwhile or whether or not I'm just buying stuff because it's a good deal rather than needing it. I've just bought a 2kg jar of Indian mixed pickle. I love it, but really do I need it just because it's 80% off? Hmmmn, best give myself a talking to.

Pickle sounds good!! Livens up a cheese sarnie no end! Do check out the prices at your local Asian food store though..usually rock bottom prices.

Know what you mean about not having anyone to talk to..had something similar in my last job. Was lucky to get out when I did and now much better . So watch and wait and if necessary get the TES Jobs section out! It's big enough!! :-)

    Have a good eve

Great news with weight loss and I am very jealous with new kitten - our purr balls would love a new kitten but too coatly at moment:(

As far as work is concerned they cant get rid of you just because your face doesnt fit:eek: And I am sure deep down you know this but I do understand it does make for a unpleasant working environment if you feel you are being scrutinised- time to look at those ads! Looking froward to Friday for a week off - well its half term here;)

Wow, I've got another week till half term yet. Still, at least it is only a week. I know that there are rules they have to follow etc, it just makes life a bit unpleasant. I've been weighing up the good and the bad, and it seems that there has been more bad than good over the past couple of years. Definitely keeping an eye on the ads - hope I'm not getting too expensive to employ though...
I lost 2.5lbs last week so 10.5 altogether now. I'm thrilled to bits, or I would be if I'd followed it with a great week, but yesterday was just insane. Chocolate, followed by chocolate, popcorn and a bag of crisps. Bum! That's stress and tired that's done that.
I've totally fallen off the mse bandwagon as well. Well, as much as I ever do these days. It's only the 10th and I'm looking skint till payday. Just need to rein in the spending etc.
    Hey ho... onwards!

Short run to Easter then or do you finish just before the Easter weekend - that happened here ONCE and we all loved it needless to say hasn't happened since! I drew a big fat line under an ongoing saga at work on Friday - well I am 99% sure its now gone away! Nast nasty nasty and no support from the twit in charge but lots form team I lead so thats the important bit - twit in charge has being trying to discredit me for a while now but I think they have finally got the message they will just have to work with me - keep getting patronising metaphorical 'pats' in the head though and I may well have to say something soon! As each year passes you get too expensive sad as it is - experience can count for nothing when belts are being tightened but go for everything that comes your way!

Great news on the weight loss - I have slipped off that wagon!
