We finish for Easter the day before Good Friday, then have Easter weekend plus a fortnight. Lovely
It shouldn't be as stressful as it is, working in the job you always wanted to do etc. But I am most definitely looking, even considering a career change altogether and going back into engineering.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

Thanks for asking rising. She's settled in wonderfully. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow since we got her and she's really starting to show a lovely personality. She's learned to meow now, and she's really friendly, will come and sit on your knee for a cuddle. Our other cat is not too impressed so far, but he's only young as well and the vet seems to think they'll get used to each other in time. At the moment it's just hissing and growling at each other. I'm pleased we took her as well, because she's clearly a lovely little thing who just didn't have much of an opportunity to thrive at her last home.
No plans for half term other than a bit of rest really. I've been a bit spendy this month and there are more vet bills to come (new kitty needs neutered and chipped). As I mentioned earlier I'm looking about in the ads and thinking about applying for a new job. There's one much closer to home which I really fancy. Just had a couple of knockbacks last year which dented my confidence and it's putting me off applying.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Great to hear she's settling in so well - sure your other one will come around as he's young enough.
Closer to home for work would be good - don't let knockbacks errrr knock you back (sorry couldn't resist!) .... there's so many people looking just now, it's harder than ever so bound to be the odd thing we don't get!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Sneaking on at work. Shouldn't be but I'm covering a Spanish lesson, and my Spanish doesn't extend beyond Dora the Explorer. Didn't bring any marking with me or anything...
Saw a job online a bit closer to home but unfortunately just a 1 year contract, and I'd be a fool to leave my job for a temporary contract just to be closer to home.
I had to leave the cats in the house and not separated today as I'd lost the little one somewhere and couldn't 'lock her in the living room' and him elsewhere. So I hope they've not killed each other. She's the more aggressive of the two of them though.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
And the weekend arrives again! But this one is a rather fantastic beginning-of-half-term weekend. I've had to bring quite a bit of marking home to get caught up with but I'm determined to get it done sooner rather than later.
It's going to have to be a frugal half term as the vet seems to have reserved most of my money this month. Midnight is off to the vet for her jabs, and hopefully neutering during the week. And on top of that - Marmalade has lost his voice and it cost me almost £60 last night for injections for him as well. Good job I love the pair of them as they've been more expensive than the kids this month.
And I have a hen party tonight. :cool:Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

Hi wannabe-in-credit :wave:Just came along one of your posts whilst looking thru someone elses thread and thought that rang a bell, I posted on this thread back in the early days. Just caught up with some recent posts on here. You seem to be doing well.:) How old is your youngest child now? At f-time school yet? I remember you having massive childcare bills.
The comment about Dora the Explorer made me laugh. You should put it on-lol. My son's French teacher once put ratatouille on, my son missed the whole point by reading the subtitles all way thru and just before Christmas one of his teachers who had lesson planned for a 6 week term when it was 7 told them to fetch a book in and keep quiet.0 -
Hi Spendless,
Thanks for checking in. You're right, I do have massive childcare bills, and they are going up again in March unfortunately. However, littlest child starts school this September so hopefully I'll be able to feel a difference by then. I will still need to pay for breakfast club but it should just about half what I'm paying now. I'll be pleased when he goes to school because I get no tax credits at all any more, so my salary which should be healthy is actually about £14k less than I really get to spend once nursery is paid.
I had an all day hangover yesterday after a hen night on Saturday - thank goodness it's half term. It's so rare that I go out drinking these days that when I do it doesn't take much to tip me over the edge and leave me suffering for days. Not much planned for today, dd has a friend coming over later - may pop in and see my sister for a couple of hours. Whatever it is, it needs to be cheap as Feb's budget is well and truly gone.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Oh I wish a week at work flew past as quickly as half term always seems to. I can't believe it's Wednesday already. Just been sitting totalling up some sums and praying for payday to arrive soon. I've spent £250 on the cats in vets fees this month which has left me extremely tight moneywise. I still have 2 days of half term to go as well. Should have enough petrol in the car to last until payday but we're going to be store cupboard staples only I think.
I'm sure that they are worth it but £250 in one month on the cats! And midnight will have to be neutered next month.
I need some inspiration - seem to have lost my money saving mojo and also my SW mojo as well. You know how it is when you're non stop, then suddenly you have time to think then you're just shattered? That's how I am this week...Ninja Saving Turtle0
