That kind of system is also reliant on the postie filling out the duty number on the cards, which a lot of posties don't do.

In our office, all the normal packets that were too big for letter box were held in alphabetical order by recipient name.

Recorded letters were sorted by date on another shelf.

Recorded packets by date on another shelf (makes it easier to see when they are due returned)

    Tracked - by name

    Specials in safe.

Every office does it different, but regardless of this it's the amount of information on the red card that's relevant to how easy it is for the item to be found.

    must be a tiny office

No idea if its tiny or just small, but they use plastic storeage type boxes for their items to be collected. I'll see if I can snap a pic when I'm in there if you'd like to see?
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!

Why not collect it as soon as you get the card eg 1 or 2 days time, yes you say its a special trip but it means you get the package the next day.

I will be, this time, don't worry! Last 2 times though, I didn't (was on holiday actually, could have *just* made it to the office in time on my return had I known, but thats besides the point I think.).

I missed a few replies on page 2 somehow, I'm uploading pics of my slip as requested now.

Could you not arrange delivery to your local Post Office ,there is a charge but it'll be offset against the petrol/public transport costs to get to the sorting office

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time
  • That'd be just as out of my way, plus I'd have to pay to park in town ;) whereas I don't at the depot. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

I wish I got this many packets/parcels in the post.

Common sense can be so simple.

To add to this......If you treat EVERY missed delivery as having a one week deadline no matter what boxes were ticked/unticked on the card, then hopefully, no more packages will be sent back before you collect them.

Ordering something just before you went on holiday probably wasn't the most sensible thing to do!
  • I do most of my shopping online as I work 6 days a week, and collect something that isn't available in the UK ;) Trust me, compared to some of my friends, I get very few parcels!
