Contact the landlord again and tell him that he either sorts it out by threatening the lad's waste of a space mother, or you will contact the Police.

It's worth pointing out to him that as a landlord he may be liable for prosecution because he has been made aware of drug use on one of his properties but has chosen to do nothing.

If nothing happens contact the Police and say that as well as being able to smell it coming through the walls there are lots of kids that appear to be school age as far as you can make out, and that you have told the landlord and he has told you he isn't bothered...that should perk up their interest. ;)

Once again the police won't do anything. They wont raid a house based on the opinions of one neighbour and if they find out she lied she'll get in more trouble than them. OPs best bet is via the landlord but threatening him won't get her anywhere.

Can you not use the spray in your own home OP? I know you shouldn't have to, but if it eliminates the problem then it seems to be the simplest solution.

  • Have spoken to the lad - got a lot of "urrrrrr" and "hmmm" from him - Told him if he doesnt sort it out then I'll be taking further action

Rang Landlord and spoke to him, told him i've had enough of it etc - he said he needed to "give the lad a chance to sort it" (How many chances does he need?)

I could use the spray in my own home but that (to me) feel's like accepting it and i dont see why i should be out of pocket :o

Will wait and see what happens - Thanks everyone

I don't really see how this is any different than living next to someone who likes to cook strong smelling food often.

A crucial difference if the smell is lingering on your clothes and , say, you work for a conservative company who quietly think you are a smoker and it ipacts on your chances of career progression. If they think you smell of curry at least they don't think you are breaking the law to get to smell that way!

Hopefully the smell isn't that bad.

Erm, that's a bit of an unfair generalisation.
    No, it's quite accurate.

"I can stop anytime I want". "It doesn't affect me". "I'm completely in control".

    Yeah, right.

    Good point.

You have traces on your clothes and there's a drug dog in use at the airport or rail station ...

  • Hmmmm the main issue here is obviously the little child you already have and the baby that is on the way, god knows what it is doing to their health. I know you don't want to use this as an 'excuse' to tell them to stop but come on they seriously need telling again.

I would tell the lad himself he is old enough to understand what's right/wrong or just plain courteous , my neighbours used to do it a lot in the back garden and although this isn't as bad as in the house, I told him straight that I didn't appreciate him doing it especially when my baby nieces were around. I used to get high of the stuff so god knows how the babies felt.

  • The smell, in all honesty if its coming through the walls like that, I'd be suspicious that they're actually growing it. Another poster pointed out that if they are smoking its constantly how are they funding it, as a teenager? This raises the question to me are they growing it?

The smell though of it growing is very different to that of it being smoked! but is hard to describe in words;)

Can you hear any constant "hum" noises all through the day or night or do you notice any momentary sights of "bright light" coming from any windows?

Are any windows of the house blacked out at all?

To set up your own grow is quite cheap and very easy to do, all the info is out there on the web on dedicated growing forums on how to do it, so it is a very reasonable suggestion that growing is taking place! Though if the smell is very strong in your house, I suspect they haven't quite done their homework:) As that is the biggest giveaway that growing is taking place. Also for the smell to be strong, I would suggest the plants are in the latter stages of the cycle, thus nearing harvest.

Check on the signs I've noted to look out for OP, and post back here. If you're unsure I'll happily come to your house and confirm if its a smoking smell or growing smell:)

Oh come on, you haven't lived if you think that's true!

I do believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions and to me it is the most disgusting smell in the world. So thanks for pointing out to me that I haven't lived, I've lived enough to know right from wrong, to know that that stuff is illegal and smelling it makes me sick. That ok with you?
