Sounds to me that it is more of a nuisance issue: I would call your local environmental health officers for an opinion.
You can then talk through with them whether the police need to be involved.
I can imagine that you dont want a full on war with the neighbours, so I would resist the police involvement until you really want to roll out the big guns as that could get pretty difficult.
I agree with this. Whilst you shouldn't have to put up with this, it may be the lesser of two evils if the Mum became violent so quickly before, and over such a small matter.
So, I would also look into removing the smell from your own house and any other solutions you can think of to stop it from seeping into your house to begin with.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
If you don't want direct contact with them how about writing a letter, requesting that they smoke it anywhere but it in the house i.e the garden. Keep it polite, but maybe state that if the situation does not stop that you will write to the Police. Write to landlord if you've got one etc.0

Call the police each and every time the drug dealer has his friends round and lights up.
If he is only a teenager, time to raise your concerns to social services as well.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
The police can also close the property as long as they can prove associated ASB with the address that is affecting the local neighbours/environment, noise and smoking cannabis would be classed as ASB. It is harder to do than if they are using Class A drugs but I can be done. I'd suggest keeping nuisance diaries and keep contacting the police. Might be an idea to also contact your local council's community protection dept, doesn't matter if they are not council tenants they can still take action against them.0

We have the same problem with our neighbours. The upstairs of our house stinks of it, it's horrible. Unfortunately both we and our neighbours own the houses so there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it. They never open their windows, I dread to think what their house must smell like inside.
We've only been here since april and part of me wishes we'd never moved now, the smell is so bad at times.
Will be interested to see the responses to this thread, am hoping there's something we can both do to make them stop!0 -

As far as we know he isn't a drug dealer and he may well be 18 or so therefore social services won't be interested.
The police are unlikely to take any action as the cost and effort of obtaining a warrant and carrying it out doesn't match the crime, it's an extremely minor offence in their eyes.
The best you could do is contact their landlord and maybe environmental health, they'll provide you with the best solution.0 -

I really feel for you, its is the most disgusting smell in the world. It sounds like his parents don't give a stuff, perhaps they're even smoking it with him or giving it to him? I would keep telling the police, even if they appear to be doing nothing, they will be building something on him. They can't do anything till they have enough evidence so they will keep trying to find it. They will be watching the family without anyone realising.
Keep a diary of comings and goings in that house, I know it sounds daft but if its the same people going in and out all the time and then the smell starts while their in then the police will want to know that aswell.
Good luck x0 -

Erm, that's a bit of an unfair generalisation.0 -
