  • A friend was offered the opportunity via a phone call to recieve 6 yrs of bank charges for fee of £39.50 guaranteed to pay out in 5 weeks. He recieved this on 1st October 2007. I presume the banks are still delaying paying due to the upcoming court case and he should refuse this offer.

Ignore, no one can guarantee anything with bank charges. There's nothing you'll get for £39.50 that can't be done yourself with information from here.

gridnutter, you need to read the previous posts in this thread as to what you should do. Do make sure that you contact the banks concerned to let them know that you don't want any further information on your accounts to the company.

As always with "no win, no fee" companies you'll find in the small print that they will have a cancellation fee and I think that is what they are charging you for in your Halifax case, £100 fee plus Vat.
  • Edinburghlass,

Thanks for looking, however what I really want to know is this:

The £117.50 is for a HSBC account that they say has insufficient charges.

The £230 that they are asking for is "a percentage of what has been refunded to cover costs / commision etc" They are claiming £1194 in total (charges came to £956 and Halifax have refunded £886 to me so far).

Is this £230 legally enforcable or should i tell them to get lost and finish the job to get your money?

    Regards

    Griddy

far as I can see Griddy they are charging on a no win no fee basis...they havent won anything for you...so theoretically they cant charge you. £88.60 plus 11.70 doesnt equal £230 more like £ 100.30

At what stage was the 2nd claim the last time you heard?

It's likely if it got to court, the bank applied for and were granted a stay. This means you have to wait until the outcome of the OFT case before your claim can be decided.

If you're not sure what's happening, ask the company who you used to make the claim to clarify the position.
  • the 2nd claim of 500 and somehting pound had been asked from natwest but nothing heard..

    cant remember exact dates

If it's still in the early stages of the claim you need to hassle the company managing the claim to progress it.
  • Hi I used Lecit legal and finally got paid all my bank charges minus a pretty hefty fee 30% in total, I also received that email about the case going to court and european courts etc,I got straight on to them and they said it was a standard email sent to every client whose case wasnt closed, although if they had done most of the work you would still get your money,I hope you have there new address because they moved offices back in August of thisyear and have a different number. The new number is in a post on around page 15-16 of this thread hope this is some use to you
