I have received an information pack from a company called *********. Apparently you give them your bank details and they will claim the bank charges back on your behalf. They do not charge for this but will take approx 29% of any money they claim back for you. Has anyone used this company or anyone like them? Any feedback greatly appreciated as I am prepared to give away 29% if it takes away the hassle.0

Hi Georgie,it may seem daunting reclaiming your bank charges yourself and a reclaiming company might seem a really easy option, but consider a claim for £1000 would give them over £300, then surely it's better to have the money in your pocket.Have a look at the thread for your bank before you make any decisions, personally i wouldn't consider using them,as we reclaimed nearly £4000 from Rbs(i wouldn't have wanted to give over £1000 to a third party). It also depends which bank you are with,as some banks are really easy to deal with, whilst others are a bit harder, but remember you will always get help and support from this site.Take heart from all of the people on here that have reclaimed.Goodluck:)0

It's so easy to do it yourself! I simply wrote two letters to HSBC and got 85% of my total charges refunded within eight weeks - 15% beats 29%! There are so many people that can help you on this site for FREE and a thank you. What bank are you with? As 3princes said, some are trickier than others but none are worth paying 29% of your money to someone else to deal with. And 29% is really 30% - would you pay 30%? I sometimes find that dropping 1% makes a figure sound much cheaper than it is...Got £820 back from HSBC! Now entering comps like mad with the hope of winning a nice long holiday....0

I am trying to reclaim £2994 from Lloyds TSB via a no win no fee company, I decided to take this route as I had been trying on my own to get anywhere since march.
Anyway they have been quite good about keeping me informed, they have sent them a letter threatening court action last week so by next week they should be serving court papers.
However due to the recent OFT announcement I called them just to clarify everything, they seem to think that the test case will take about 3/4 weeks but I am slightly concerned because that is not what I'm reading!!!
Thing is do I trust a company to continue my claim who are less informed then I am, I am going crazy I need that money but no one seems to give me a straight answer whether I will get it.
If they serve court papers next week I'll be out of time and the case will be stayed for sure, I just want to know WHAT IS GOIN ON!!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but this test case will probably be measured in months, if not years. Your claims management company is very wrong indeed. If I was being cynical I would say they're giving you the 3/4 weeks timescale to try and keep you sweet.
The reality of the situation is that the freezing of complaints at the banks and the FOS, together with the potential for court cases to be stayed for something like two years, means that these 'no-win-no-fee' merchants will be out of business before too long.Everyone needs something to believe in.
I believe I need another beer.0 -
This may sound a stupid question but is this claim company run by solicitors as they sound as if they have no idea of civil litigation. Unless a person does not defend and immediately pays the sum claimed no case can be completed in 3 - 4 weeks. You should ask them if they are Solicitors if they are not tehn on what basis are they condcuting litigation. As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0

I read that the test case will take at least 1 year. I wouldnt use one oft hose companies anyway though - you have to pay them in the end and some of their rates seem as unlawful as the bank charges themselves!!0

They only take 10% but what else was I supposed to do I was getting nowhere with Lloyds, apparently one of the legal team is going to call me tomorrow to discuss my case but I've already had one of those 'everything is on hold' letters from the bank! what I need to know is have my lawyer's heard anything of this nature because they seem to think this test case will all be over quite quickly.
Is anyone else using a company or solicitor and are just about to start court proceedings, what have your lawyer's said to you?

I'm going to be the bearer of even more bad news I'm afraid as going back over your posts you said the company charge £125 + 10% so they will be asking for the £125 no matter what the outcome.
There is no way the test case is going to be 3/4 weeks and they must know this if they are talking about having a "legal" team.
The only thing I can suggest you do at this time is, if they don't start court action then you must and as soon as possible to get your claim into the court system but there is going to be no quick offer on this claim I'm afraid.
I can't stress enough, and its the second time today, there is no such thing as a free lunch and no such thing as a no win, no fee company. There will always be small print. The other case I read today they have been told there aren't enough charges to claim so here is a bill for £117.50.0 -
No that was my mistake its £125 minimum or 10% so mine will be 10%. Thanks for replying Edinburghlass I think I will tell them tomorrow that I wish to commence court action right now!! Surely its in theirbest interests to get a hasty result so they get paid cos if this goes on for a year and then the high court rule in the banks favour they may not. Legal beagles in this situation do I have to honour my agreement with them as technically they will be doin nothing for me for a year or so!!
