I've removed the name of the site from the above posts. After having a look at the site, I would recommend proceeding with caution if you use them. Some of the information on the site is wildly inaccurate/misleading. You would be better off dealing with the claim yourself using the free information and template letters in Martins article, and all the support you need for free on this board. The information is much more accurate and up to date on this board. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi
I am new to this website and this forum.:j I was sent an email the other day from a Company, I presume solicitors, (which inspired my search to find this website) who offer to reclaim bank charges for a cost of 25% of the amount recovered. As it is new to me that charges could even be recovered, and I would estimate I have paid about £3,000 in charges from Abbey and Northern Rock over the past six years, I wouldn't really mind paying that percentage out. I think it would be distressing to take on the fight with the banks myself, as I recently had a prolonged legal battle with a landlord, and don't fancy another fight just yet! Has anyone had experience of any of these companies? If anyone has had any successes using this method I would be very grateful to hear about them. I'm just trying to weigh up whether it would be worth trying to do it myself or not.
Thank you!0 -
I would definately recommend trying to do it yourself.
In my experience, it was really easy and I certainly wouldn't want to pay somebody £750 of my much needed money to do something so simple.
Each to their own, naturally, but there is enough info on this wonderful website to be able to work your own way though it all.

i must admit i was all for giving a company a go at trying to re-coup my charges for me, but then i was told by one of them that it would be alot better for me to get the statements myself as the banks were taking the full 40 days allowed to send them to this company where as as an individual customer it was taking on average 2 weeks.
So i got them back myself and after doing SOOOOOOOOO much reading on this site and driving my hubby mad with quoting stories of MSE claims that i decided to give it a go, i have sent my 2nd letter today threatening court action in 7 days and have included interest also, soooooooooo like everyone told me before and i know it sounds cliche but "if i can do it, you can do it".
Plus, and this is laughable after my intial thoughts on doing it myself, i am also doing my mum's claim as well:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Deleted as the post no longer made any sense without the name of the problematic company.0

***website removed*** - Thanks for moving Admin/Moderator, but you may want to at least put the name of the company that sent the e-mail to me (minus the link) so peple know which company to stay clear of? If not then there isn't much point in me posting this as the post won't make any sense at all.
Leaving in the website just gives them the publicity that they want and they won't be getting it on MSE0 -
More people trying to scam you out of a percentage of your charges!
I've just had a few leaflets put through my door for a company called ***** based in Chester claiming "***** have 100% success rate in upholding bank charge claims for victims!" I think the people who use them are the real victims!
Unfortunately they'll get some business but when they mention it to a friend let's just hope they say "check moneysavingexpert.com" as it's free advice there!
One thing I noticed was that their current website shows how to claim on your "endowment shortfall" ... With the deadline looming, will these companies switch sell to "bank charge refunds"?
Please if you're reading this, use Martin's easy guide of claiming your charges back! It's free and likely to cost you no more than £10!
**Board Guide note, company name removed**0
