Thanks

That's from a UK-based supervisor/manager, after talking with the underwriting department who manage applications. I would think it more truthful than the words from those India-based CS reps (from whom, on two occasions, I was told that every Platinum card has cashback which you know I know is plain wrong).Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -

I'm beginning to think it's probably not worth going for this card anywhere. I had a look at the cashback T&Cs just now (click here for link).
Point 1.4 says:If the total value of cash back accrued in any twelve month period is less than £5, We will not make the cash back rebate. This will be returned to £0.
...which basically translates to "you need to spend £500 per month in order to get any cashback during that month".
Not a very good deal if you have the AmEx Platinum (or another cashback card) as your 'main' card!0 -
I translate that to 'Spend £500 in one year or forfeit any cashback that you may have accrued'0

Further up in those terms it mentions that cashback is paid per month.
That makes it a rather bad cashback card.
Doesn't it say cashback is calculated and accrued per month? It's paid yearly.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

Thanks for that, Andrea. I suppose you're right.
So is there anything else to take into account before applying for this card? Has anyone had any problems setting up direct debits for the full amount to be paid every month?0 -
The cashback article has now been updated with a Citibank 1% Platinum Visa link that takes you directly to the correct page.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I'm surprised about all the negative comments - I have had no problems with this card. The application went straight through and the card arrived. There didn't appear to be anything in the T&Cs about cashback but the help desk immediately confirmed that I have 1% cashback.
The direct debit form allowed me to tick full amount although it hasn't been processed in time for my first statement so I've sent them a cheque. The cashback from the first month was £3.20 which seems to have been applied as a credit at the beginning of the second month. Fears about having to spend £500 per month are wrong (although it clearly means per year, so this wasn't a worry).

My experience has been identical with Omrud - absolutely no problem, courteous on telephone, DD form sent immediately and you have a choice whether to pay off the full amount or not, and the first statement showed how much I had earned in cashback (paid yearly). The only slight problem I have had and I have raised this on a new thread, is if you sign up with an ISP for say 2 yrs. (E7even offer) pay in advance by CC and the ISP then goes belly up or fails to provide the service, are you covered. CitiCard were the only one of three companies who said definitely NO !"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
