Is it just 'pot luck' whether you actually get the correct cashback card (Even when signing up for it) ??
Is there anyway to tell for sure before using the card - Or is it a case of waiting for a statement to arrive showing cashback ??
I think it's worth mentioning that one thing is for sure... In all cases mentioned here, they never send out details with the confirmation letter that needs to be sent back signed. In my opinion that's too big a risk to take, so I would stay away.0 -
Despite some people recieving cashback on this card it is NOT open for new customers at present.
CitiBank told me that none of their cards have cashback other than if you opened the account with a cashback offer!!!! Strange seeing as that is exactly what I did.
I have absolutely no doubt that some people are receiving cashback but that was probably for new accounts back in March (or whenever Martin posted this thread).
I urge you to not touch this company with a barge pole. Even though I (and others here) were told on numerous occasions that I would get cashback I eventually find out that I don't.
Thanks JohnK I think I'll write to the CEO aswell. This kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable. I am also going to write to trading standards.0 -
Ah, at last! A thread with people who have had a similar nightmare with Citibank. As I explain in another thread on this forum, I have had a terrible time with them and their so called "cashback" card. To me, Citibank are nothing but dishonest, contradictory and insulting. Stay away!
To sum up my experience, I applied online for a cashback card (clearly advertised as one) and was accepted. I received Ts&Cs by post, no mention of cashback, phoned to confirm, was told yes it was a cashback card.
Then rang later to double-check, was told that they would get back to me but yes, they were almost sure it was - just needs time to show as one. First statement & online bumph says that I have not earned any cashback, so ring and ask again. They now say no, not a cashback card. They say it couldn't possibly be because i applied in first 1/4 2005 before cashback offer was released. Not so, I say, check your records. Ok, they say, April 18th is when I applied. Oh, they say, well actually it's still wrong and you're not eligible, can you provide printouts/proof that you applied for one? Yes, I say, I have printouts of the screens and the URL (still reachable). Oh, they say, we never made public our cashback card or had an online application for one, the offer of the card you applied for never existed, the URL is not valid (even though it's on their domain and has been referenced here many times). So they can stick their card - I cut it up and sent it back.
Anyone got onto trading standards yet? I think this is absolutely appaling.0 -

Josh, if you read the other thread, you can see that I am having my complaints looked at by the Office of CEO (which they now say would take another two weeks). I think that's the first and necessary step before I can take the matter to "Financial Services Ombudsman" for misselling and mis-advising. Above all, having this card can make it difficult to obtain other similar cards, let alone the hassle we all had gone through (In fact, your experience is exactly what happened to me, and I even put down the name/extentsion of the CS Rep who "confirmed" that my card is cashback!)Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
