  • Based on advice from this forum, I downloaded AVG and used it for years, but time has come to pay and now I find it blocks my system a bit, I am thinking of uninstalling it.

As for all the other things like spyware, malware etc - I've always just hoped that AVG covers it all...

I'm just very careful opening emails and websites. Am I leaving myself too open?

  • Softonic recently tested 6 free AV programs and Avira came out at No1. Microsoft Security Essentials didn't come out all that well but I shall continue to use it for its unobtrusiveness - and I do have Malwarebytes too.

kaspersky rescue disk is brilliant too, especially when dealing with nasty viruses that won't let you boot. (ransomware in particular)

It's free to download it, and you can put it on a usb or dvd. From there, just select boot from usb and run it

I had a real issue with kaspersky pure not allowing boot or reboot recently, is this waht you are referring too??

Took no action, switched of 3 or 4 times and "forced" the reboot by continuous attempts to "kick" KP into action.

    Full scan later revealed nothing??
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Well, I use Kaspersky Internet Security. Works great and it's usually in the TOP 3 according to different tests. So, I think it's pretty solid.
