Evening folks,
Sorry if it's been asked before, but I could only find older info when I searched.
I have a Dell laptop running Windows Vista which currently has McAfee security which came with the laptop, and just renewed last year when the months free period was over as it seemed the easiest option at the time.
However after reading some posts from you clever techie people about it being not being a very good program I'm considering buying Kaspersky as mentioned by aliEnRIK here.
I'm not very techis minded unfortunatly and am concerned about uninstalling McAfee correctly. Could someone please help me with any info needed to do this properly and safely without doing any halm to my laptop. I also use Skybot Search & Destroy.
I have an old PC running Windows XP which does still work and would like to install Kaspersky on it. It has Norton security which I've never renewed as I very rarely use it. This PC also has Skybot Search & Destroy.
I would be very grateful for any help & advice.
Many thanks in advance...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -

Hi Rik, thank you for the speedy reply...
Is it easy to do please?
Also big big thanks to you from february 2009, when you helped me to get my old PC working again!................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
You just run the programs, thats it
And no worries:idea:0 -
And no worries
You spent ages helping me as did loaner and it's still working OK as I mentioned above...
Do you know why loaner doesn't post anymore?
Also is this anything to worry about from the bottom of the McAfee link?

No clue about Loaner ~ sorry
As for the Mcafee statement, certainly nothing to worry about:idea:0 -
Mcafee put that info on to try and make you worry about uninstalling their product, imo, mcafee is a very bloated program and doesnt have a lot going for it, especially when you have the likes of avast ang and avira all free!
I used to use Avast as it updates itself regularly, but on reading that Avira protected slightly better, I have moved to avira..especially since I realised that you can make new "update jobs" in avira, i now have it checking for updates 4 times a day and along with a few other freebies, my security is pretty safe...obviouly the best security is common sense....but I have lost the link to that!0 -

Hi Rik,
I've managed to uninstall McAfee with you help, many thanks...
Another problem has arisen, in that I also have AVG link scanner which I'd forgotten about
I've tried to remove it from 2 links from the AVG website but it hasn't worked, so I'm unable to install Kaspersky. I have a Dell 1545 laptop running Windows Vista.
Can you help with this please?
Thank you.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0
