I've been trying to get the Desire on Virgin since yesterday, but the website isn't working and when I phoned them, they tried charging me a fiver more than it states in the press release (I'm an existing Virginmedia customer)0
-
oh, the website works here..although I did have problems yesterday, an extra fiver? wow was it an offshore person you dealt with?0
-
Yes, it was a very nice, but ultimately useless, Indian lady who refused to budge on price - even though I had printed off Virgin's own press release and was quoting it at her! Is the part of the website for phone and sim deals for existing customers actually working? I still can't access it.0

oh thats down for me too. LOL its kind of funny the callcentres dont even know there own prices0

why not give virgin mobile retentions a call? you can call them direct on 0800 183 11500

me? i wanted to know if anyone else had got any deals through retentions before i call up.0

tbh the retention deals available with virgin mobile are very much depended upon each individual customer
what is available for one customer may not be available for another.
due to the competitive pricing, upgrades are now not available to some customers this is because Virgin would make a loss over the period of the contract. This tends to happen with low users
At the same time with very high users they may have high profit margins. If they are making more money on these customers they are able to use that profit to provide better discounts/better call plans/better handsets etc.
really you would be best of to call retentions to see what is available for you as what other people get will have no bearing on what is available for you.
they are open till 8pm monday to friday and 8-5 saturday - i think they are open bank holidays - but can't be 100% sure0 -
For reasons which aren't material, Virgin has offered to upgrade my contract 3 months before expiry as follows:
HTC Wildfire (free)
900 mins
unlimited txts
1 Gb downloading
Cost £15/mo for 24 months
Oh, and they charge me £20 (one off) to buy out from my present contract.
Sounds quite good to me but I'm not an expert on these things. I suspect someone in here is, though.42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
And nothing the industry tries do to us surprises me any more!0 -
I recently tried to buy out of my contract and was told that there was no penalty within 3 months of expiry of the contract. That still left 10 months to pay on my contract though.
Try to get the contract paid up without charge; they are discounting sim only deals by 50% - would that interest you?0 -

There may be no penalty in the last three months (although I'd be dubious of that) but if you leave and have 13 mobnths left (as you seem to say) they'll charge the full 13 months not let you off the last three, why should they your leaving they have the contract that covers them and thewres no reason for them to apply goodwill as your going.0
