Can I join please :-) This is wonderful for Xmas saving, both me and my husband save change so I won't know what's gone in in total until it's counted at the end of Nov. We put 20 pence and under into the pot, so won't get a huge total, but it would be nice to get over £50Pay all debts by Xmas 12 # 072 £1201.79/£15,105.68:eek:

Hello all,
my first post of the year
I am a bit greedy & have two Sealed pots going; the first is my £2 coin pot which I'm using to save towards a new pair of boots in the autumn. This has been going for a few weeks now & is currently at £56
.
Wow, that's an amazing amount! How did you do it? I've been saving £2 coins for a month or so (since I used the last lot to buy a way-to-expensive pair of Fly boots) and i've only got £18!

It's odd to think that in this household not only do the hens provide us with enough eggs, plus some to sell some at the gate, earn enough to feed themselves (thats where the £1 coins come in that I do not put in the pot) but also they are also helping to save for Christmas.
Need to have some lateral thought on what job the cat can do!!!!!!!
You could probably feed a small family on the 'presents' our cats leave us on the doorstep each morning...you just wouldn't want to
Also in response to Ian I think it's worth mentioning that so many of us - including me - seem to already collect change in pots around the house, this thread is just a way to motivate and focus something we already do. And, as people have already said, the pennies we put in the pot would never make it into the bank! I started saving like this as a child when I realised that Mum and Dad were never going to buy me a pony so I decided to save everything I got until I could afford it myself. I can still remember sitting down with my Dad to count out over £80 that I had saved in a year, mostly in pennies and birthday money. Without that goal I would have spent all that money on other things. Dad then explained to me that ponies cost much more than £80 to look after each year so we went into town to open my first savings account, and I've never lost the savings bug.
I scoured the beach for roadkill yesterday but found nothing more to add to the pot yet.

I had to use a £20 to pay for a £1.50 car park ticket on Saturday, and the machine gave me change in £1s!! Of course, I had to put the lot in my sealed pot, as soon as I got home :whistle:C'mon you Canaries!!0

Please may I join you? Save change already, but this will stop me dipping in to it for change the children for school/collection at church etc. (Only trouble is that this children have already got the bug, and constantly look for roadkill etc. to add to their moneyboxes:rotfl:. You have to be very quick to find shrapnel around here! Still, best to start young.) I'm really looking forward to the count in Nov already - counting the change is my favourite job of the year, and I save it for when I'm feeling a bit off, normally, (about once a quarter under my old schedule).
Loved reading this thread, everyone so enthusiastic.
Thanks,
