You're most definitely learning quickly, little_sweetie, save whenever possible!
I'm pleased about your news, cleggie, stay strong and stay away unless potting.IanisAmazing wrote:Thanks for all the responses to my question, I'm sure Sue_UU and Sparky do do a wonderful job but, I still can't understand it myself. With Martin's money mantras I cannot understand how this sealed pot has any added 'effect'.
Enjoy your 'challenge'.
Please take the time to read through the post below, Ian, to my mind it says far more than anyone could to attempt to sway you. You won't get that in a bank, but it would sway me to initially start saving in the home where kiddies get the chance to see what happens, to be part of it all. There are far more important "interests" in life than in banks.samtoby wrote:Toby my son just found some coins in my room; and knows we are saving for a new home so he went straight to the pot and put them in.
Excellent news samtoby!! :TAll which shows how you are having the chance and time to show your little lad the way to save. Our pots can be such an important vessel, even to show how Mum & Dad can help save for their new home. Well done Toby!!! :T:T:T
So good to hear you're feeling a bit better now, LC 2, migraines are vile things. The sort of thing that makes us sees STARS STARS!!!!! Thought if I say it twice that's you two shut up!!!!:p

Spoke to DS1 today about dinner money. He gets it from me Mon-Wed and then from his Dad Thurs-Fri. It's an agreed £2.50 per day and I nearly always give him a tenner and forget about it. So I've asked him, when this happens, to pot the remaining £2.50. He is very fair and honest and says that he will as long as he gets to smash the pot at the end of November. Haven't told him that I'm going to try and get it all out through the slot and reuse the pot.....:rotfl:
Anyway, that's another £2.50 in the pot most weeksLBM:1/1/12Debts @ LBM:£43,546  Debts now: £9,486  78% PAIDFound YNAB 1/2/14 - the best thing EVER!0 -
Still potting all the coins under £1 thanks to the hens and their lovely eggs.
It's odd to think that in this household not only do the hens provide us with enough eggs, plus some to sell some at the gate, earn enough to feed themselves (thats where the £1 coins come in that I do not put in the pot) but also they are also helping to save for Christmas.
Need to have some lateral thought on what job the cat can do!!!!!!!0 -

Morning everyone
Good to se everyone is still positive about the challenge, some very passionate post regarding ian's question!
All I can say from myself & hopefully Sue is we enjoy taking the time to welcome, encourage & support people, also to have a bit of fun and more importantly to congratulate the members of the challenge at the end when they're declaring their totals with such excitement, right down to the declaring of the Grand total which every single members has contributed to in their own way, be it sealed pot or banking along the way, everyone is a part of the SPC family & I for one feel proud to be a part of it, I enjoy the banter, the support and the mickey taking we have in our little community and if we can help just one person to reach their goal then it's worth every minute being on here. Long may SPC carry on.
Anyhow, my usual £2 potted last night, plus 2p tea room change, also 5p in the turnstyle at work this morning which I'll pop into the road change pot when I get home tonight.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe & keep savingSparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Total for SPC3 £1,030.57 Total For SPC 4 £2247.00 Total for SPC 5 £2574.62 :T Total for SPC 6 £4552.91:T

45p potted yesterday - 44p in random change from my pocket, and a penny roadkill from my mate's car floor - it was on the passenger side so fair game
Broke now until payday next Friday so no more random change, but I'll be keeping a sharp lookout for roadkill and/or railkill.
In response to Ian, all the change going into my pot is just that - change. If it wasn't in the pot it wouldn't be in the bank - I'd have spent it on something that I didn't need. So far I've saved about £15 since joining this thread a week or so ago - even if I don't put anything else in there (obviously I will!), when open my pot up in December that's enough for a meal out with friends, or a big bottle of Jack Daniels to see me through ChristmasSearch for Crunchy's Debt Deletion Diary...
