Hi all, haven't been out shopping but I have a lovely £20 note to pop in the pot. We have an allowance for outings each month and, as we didn't go out for a meal at the weekend, the money we didn't spend is destined to be pot fodder. That's my excuse anyway. ;)

Hi - please can I join this? My aim is to put in anything from my weekly budget that is left over (I'm trying to be frugal!) and my husband is going to put his change in too.

Well here I am again, joined ages (years) ago, then had a slight hiccup (went BR) and am now scrabbling back into the light again. So saving is a plus for me this year. Trying all sorts, including coming back on here. Dusting off my lovely terramundi and first bit of change will be in there at the weekend (not before as I am totally broke and dependant on every penny this week for petrol/food money)

So hello again, and I'm looking forward to saving with you all this year

    Welcome back sams247
Good to have you back in the fold, give that terramundi a good dusting and start chucking your change in :D. Hope you're all sorted out, hopefully you can start to pick up some good tips now you're back and the future will bring yo a lot of good times :)

You'll find us a friendly lot who'll encourage you along the way. :D

BTW, take a look at page 1 post 1 which explains how the challenge works ;)

    Hi Sparky,

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this in the past or not, but over here a dollar coin is referred to as a Loonie (because of the bird on the coin), and a two dollar coin is called a Toonie. When I go to the bank to get change I have to be careful how I speak and pronunciate because the staff in the bank get confused easily, for example if I want ten one dollar coins I can't say "can I have ten, dollar coins?" because they think I'm asking for a ten dollar coin (which as far I know doesn't exist), so it's much easier to ask for ten loonies :rotfl:which I have difficulty keeping a straight face for.
There also used to be a bus to the ski hill which cost a dollar for the ride, you've guessed it, it was called the Loonie Bus :rotfl:

Sorry, I think I've woken up in a giggley mood today.

Just to keep on topic, nothing in the pot for me :)

started saving like this as a child when I realised that Mum and Dad were never going to buy me a pony so I decided to save everything I got until I could afford it myself. I can still remember sitting down with my Dad to count out over £80 that I had saved in a year, mostly in pennies and birthday money. Without that goal I would have spent all that money on other things. Dad then explained to me that ponies cost much more than £80 to look after each year so we went into town to open my first savings account, and I've never lost the savings bug.

I scoured the beach for roadkill yesterday but found nothing more to add to the pot yet.

Did you ever get your pony Janey?

I had to wait till I was grown up and working before I got mine:)
£2 coin in the pot today btw
