  • Hi all! Please can I join you?? I've been a member of Mse for a couple of years but have had numerous blonde moments trying to log in to my old account so have given up and set up a New one! :) I have been reading this post for a while and am so inspired to start saving properly! I've read the first post but is there anything you're not allowed to put in the pot or is any money fair game??

    Thanks

Ps nice to meet you all xx

  • Well done Chiefsfanuk on being smoke free. Think it would be a great idea to pot what would have gone up in smoke. If your will power is fading you could look at your pot and see how much you have saved. Why not think of something expensive as a treat and see how long it would have taken you to smoke the value away. Never smoked myself so don;t appreciate how hard it is to quit but have a best friend who is a reformed smoker for 5 yrs now. Well done you and keep it up.:D

I really recommend you do this, I did it with Dh and it really helped him stay smoke free, every 2 days £6 went in the tin (well untill he convinced me to sign him up to the gym that he only went to for a month  :rotfl: then I took that out his 'fag' money') after 5 monthsish he had £265 in there   even he was upset by how much he wasted on those sticks :(

Oh and very well done on the 1 week :D I didnt crave myself when I gave up, but watching DH go through the withdrawal was something I hope to never see again

Thanks guys, I may just start potting it you know, it would be £6.50 every two days so I am actually thinking of transferring it to my ISA and saving up for something really special like taking the kids on their first holiday abroad or something. If I am really having a weak moment I may put the cash in my pot though as a physical act of encouragement for myself.

I am using an E-lite electric ciggy to help but finding I am not needing to use it too much, does help with the habit as well as the addiction though, I recommend them for anyone trying to give up!

Well, all the kids are in bed, hubby home from work in a minute, so I am going to have a search around the house now for some pennies now, then maybe get on here and do some comps, then head to bed... keeping myself busy is very important to keep the smokes at bay!!

Enjoy the rest of your evening potters! xxxx
